A Brief Update

Dear Families -

Thank you so much for working with us to have a great start back to school. We appreciate all of the preparation you have done with your children in advance of coming to school. It has been a great few days of learning and practising new routines, and the students have been terrific! Almost all of our students are wearing masks and are conscientious about using hand sanitizer, washing hands, and distancing as much as possible. Thank you for your support!

While we have been enjoying lovely weather these 2 weeks, there may be days where we have rain. A reminder that students will be outside until 8:55am each day and that even with light rain, we will be going outside for recesses. This is a great way to have a mask break and to get some fresh air. Having a raincoat will be very helpful on inclement weather days. Of course, should there be dangerous weather such as lightning or severe cold in the winter, we will follow Public Health guidelines for indoor recess protocols.

We encourage walking and biking to school and students are welcome to lock up their bike at either bike rack: by the front doors or on the west side of the yard at the top of the asphalt pathway leading up from Kildare. Please do not bring skateboards or scooters as there is no storage available for these items.

By Monday September 14th all families must confirm if they wish to continue with remote learning or return to in-class learning at Fairfield. This is important information as it directly impacts our class size, staffing, and school organization. A gentle reminder that all class lists are tentative until at least the third week of September. It is possible that changes will be made to class lists and to staff, and information will be communicated to families as soon as possible should we be directed to reorganize. While every effort is made to establish and maintain routines and classroom cohorts, it is possible that we may have to reorganize our classrooms. This re-organizing may occur based on student enrollment and is a decision that is made by the Central Staffing Committee of the LDSB.

While we have been sending updates directly to families for the last few weeks, we will be returning to updating our website and twitter rather than direct messaging to families as often. Please bookmark the Fairfield webpage and follow us on Twitter - our account information is listed at the bottom of this newsletter.

Have a great weekend Falcons!

If you drive to school please park in the parking lot and NOT in front of the school or in the bus loop. The bus loop is for busses only and there is no parking or stopping in front of the school as it is a fire lane. Thank you!
