More Super Sports

Skipping George showed the children the ropes on Tuesday! The children (and teachers!) loved the challenge of improving both their skipping and their fitness.

On Thursday, we were delighted to host an inter-school athletics competition when we were joined by Trinity and Moorside schools. To represent our school, each class teacher selected the children following their performances on sports day. We did a sprint, hurdles, high jump and a throwing event, with Years 3 and 4 using bean bags and Years 5 and 6 shot put. To finish off each school selected one girl and one boy from each year group to take part in the relay.

Congratulations Trinity who won by just 6 points!

Superstar worship

Parents and carers are invited to our end of term superstar worships. We will present awards and share some of the learning that has been happening over the course of the summer term. For parents and carers with pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 superstar worship will be on Thursday 11th July at 9am in the school hall.

For parents and carers of pupils in Early years, Year 1 and Year 2, superstar worship will be on Thursday 11th July at 2.40pm in the school hall.

We look forward to seeing you next week.

Celebrating Year 6

Year 6 started their leaving celebrations with a service in the Cathedral on Tuesday with other local children who are moving on to secondary school in September. The theme of the service was 'Looking Forward' and the children produced rainbows of their hopes and aspirations for the future.

A wonderful evening was had by all on Wednesday, even if a tear or two was shed as well. All our Year 6 pupils, and the staff who have been involved with them over their years here, were joined by family members for an evening of reminiscing. Our thanks to the staff who catered for the gathering and made the hall look so welcoming. Mr Holmes also worked hard to put together a number of films featuring their memories and photos from across the years (thank you to parents who contributed photos). Do check out the children's music video below, they had great fun filming it all around the school! The Friends (with a special thank you to Vikki!) kindly sourced the amazing leavers' hoodies.

Harewood House and Gardens

Our EYFS children loved their visit to Harewood House last Friday. Of course, a highlight was the penguin enclosure but there were plenty more birds to see, as well as the wonderful house and a great spot for a picnic. Many parents accompanied the group, as well as all our EYFS staff, so a big thank you to them for a successful day out.

Nature Walk

Year 4 made the most of their visit to Studley Park last Friday by going on a picturesque walk to get there. As well as enjoying the sights and sounds of the National Trust property, they participated in a workshop about mini-beasts to mammals.

Reading Leader Book Review

Congratulations to this week's new Reading Leader and thank you for this review.

'Eeyore loses a tail' by AA Milne

This book is exciting to read because you don't know if Eeyore finds his tail and if they find his tail, how are they going to put it back on Eeyore? My mum read this book as a child and she really liked it and so do I.

Breakfast Natters

Mrs Rich was delighted to be invited to the last Breakfast Natters of the school year! This friendly monthly event will continue in September, and in reality all are invited. Just pop along to have a chat, coffee and cake (home made!). Toddlers are also welcome and really enjoy all the play opportunities.

Job Opportunity

From September we have vacancies for midday supervisory assistants. You will need to be dedicated and committed to work everyday from midday to 1.30pm, setting up and clearing away dining furniture and helping in the lunch hall. Of course, enjoying working with children is a must! If you are interested, follow the link below for more details and the application pack.
