Spring Independent School District (Spring ISD) is committed to protecting the health and safety of its employees and students. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the District has adopted new protocols for students to follow while physically present in a Spring ISD building, which include a self-assessment expectation for parents to withhold students that exhibit COVID symptoms.
Please review the policy in the link below and complete the form to indicate that you understand the policy. Complete this form for each student who will be coming to school for in-person safety first learning.

Burchett Continues to Welcome Back Bobcats for In-Person Instruction
We continue to have great "first weeks" of in-person instruction with scholars whose families are choosing the Safety-First In-Person option after choosing our Empowered Learning At-Home option originally.
With that being said, the district will continue to provide remote instruction through Empowered Learning At-Home to all families who prefer to continue learning remotely.
However, if families change their minds, the district is offering more flexibility to move from remote to in-person instruction. Rather than having to wait until the end of a grading period, parents will be able to make the switch at any time, keeping in mind that campuses may need up to two weeks to adjust staffing and arrange bus transportation. Scholars always have the option to move from in-person to remote learning.
** Please note that student returns will occur only on Mondays and students are unable to return until they have been cleared to do so by our campus registrar.
Spring ISD has also unveiled a new website that will give families information about COVID-19 cases in the district at www.springisd.org/covidtracker. This dashboard, which includes data starting Aug. 17, will be updated nightly so that staff and families have real-time data.
Doors Open at 8:05 AM - No Early Arrivals Permitted
We understand the later time may conflict with work schedules. We are pleased to announce we will have Koala Kare Services for Before and After School. If you would like more information you can email the Koala Kare representative at Koala.Kare@yahoo.com.

Spring ISD, Houston Dynamo and Dash Announce Diesel's Readers Program
Spring ISD is excited to team up with the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash for the Diesel’s Readers school readers program--a partnership which utilizes the power of the soccer teams and the sport of soccer to support teachers in their efforts to boost reading away from the classroom.
The program, which will run from Oct. 12-Nov. 20, is open for all kindergarten through 6th grade students in the district. Students will have the opportunity to win various prizes, including a ticket per student to a Dynamo or Dash game in 2021. The school with the most read books combined over the six week program will win the grand prize of having a Houston Dynamo or Dash player reading a book live!
**Students who read five or more books will receive their earned complimentary ticket with a purchase of a parent fundraiser ticket. Link to redeem the complimentary ticket will be provided to classes to share with parents.
Want to see your student’s grades and report cards? Log into HAC!
As we prepare to release progress reports and report cards this fall, we wanted to remind you how to check your child’s grades on the Home Access Center.
The key is to log into the myspringisd portal and into HAC. There you will find a Grades tab. When you click on that, you will see where to locate your child’s progress report (IPR), report cards and more.
Remember, the username and password you use to log into the portal is the same username and password for logging into HAC. Also, parents should log in using their credentials, not their student’s.
Staying connected with your child’s academic progress is a great way to ensure your student’s success in school. By monitoring and encouraging, you can help support your child’s performance.
See the attached handouts in English and Spanish for step-by-step directions.

Attendance Matters So Make Sure Your Student is Marked Present
With online learning, we know there are some questions on attendance and how to ensure students are marked present for the day. Here’s what families need to know:
Log in and attend class in real-time with your teacher during the morning and the afternoon.
If you were unable to attend a session because of a technology issue, don’t panic. Students attending either the morning or afternoon session will be counted present for the day.
We know some families may have trouble sticking to the daily schedule because of a variety of issues, including parents’ work schedules, power outages, technology problems or distractions at home.
If your student for some reason misses both the morning and afternoon live instruction with their teachers, they can still make up the work by logging into Schoology and completing the day’s assignments. For that effort to count, however, students must do this before 11:59 p.m. each day to be counted present.
Even with all the challenges of online learning, attendance is still being tracked and still counts. Attendance matters, and we want our students in class and learning every day, 100 percent of the time. At a minimum, state standards require students to attend school at least 90 percent of the time the class is in session to receive credit.
If your family is struggling with attendance, let us know now so we can help!
