A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons:
Your Board of Education has finalized a year of facility planning that involved information collection through several community forums and a review of current facilities and student enrollment data. As a result, space needs were identified as the significant issue to be resolved. Hence, the $27.5 million proposal to create student space, enhance student safety, and ensure future building sustainability. Specifically, this school year an additional Kindergarten classroom was needed; since space was not available, teacher aides were added to several classes in order to meet state standards.
So the next major challenge is paying for the proposed needs; hence, a general obligation bond issue is proposed that will not increase your debt service levy but will extend actual debt fourteen years. Due to prior financial planning, the Board of Education is able to offer student classroom expansion, gymnasium expansion, facility renovation, and infrastructure modernization at your existing debt service levy of 76.12 cents per $100 assessed valuation.
The following Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ, sheet provides significant information regarding our proposal and discusses the financing. Please take a few minutes to review the FAQ’s and attend an upcoming public Forum either in person or via Facebook Live on the Fulton Public Schools Facebook page.
Thank you for your support of FPS students and faculty. We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to work with your student(s).
Sincerely,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
Superintendent
