FSSD Online Registration Period Opens April 1
Please mark your calendars for the FSSD online registration period, which runs from April 1-30. Beginning Sunday, April 1, parents of all new or currently enrolled FSSD pre-kindergarten through 7th grade students may go online at www.fssd.org to the Registration link under Parents and Students.
If you have a returning student, you will need to be prepared to log in to your Skyward Family Access account. Skyward will even auto-translate into dozens of world languages. The registration process must be completed for each child and you will receive all notification and confirmation of your registration through Family Access, including notices of important deadlines and the required information. If you need assistance with your Family Access account, please contact your school office. Your family’s unique user name will allow you to access all of your FSSD students.
We are happy to report that required documents, including proofs of residency and immunization updates, may be submitted electronically through the registration process. Please remember, your child is not fully registered until all required documents, including the two proofs of residency dated February 2018 or later, are submitted to your child’s school either electronically or physically.
As a convenience, each school has computer kiosks or stand-alone computers available during the month of April for parents in need of online access or assistance with this process. If you need language assistance, please make an appointment with the parent liaison through your child’s school office.
Thank you for helping us to plan for next year by registering for 2018-2019 before the May 1 deadline.
CLINIC NEWS FROM NURSE LIZ:
PARENTS OF CURRENT SIXTH-GRADE STUDENTS
All rising seventh-grade students will need to provide an updated Tennessee Certificate of Immunization prior to your child beginning school in August. The form must be signed and dated by a healthcare provider and show proof of the following vaccines:
· Tetanus-Diphtheria-Pertusis Booster (Tdap)
· Hepatitis B ( 3 doses)
Your child WILL NOT be able to start school until we have received their required vaccinations and we have documentation of them on a Tennessee Certificate of Immunization. We are unable to accept incomplete forms, or a copy of your child’s immunization record. To avoid any delays, PLAN AHEAD and take care of this now. Physician’s offices are very busy right before school begins.

COUNSELOR'S CORNER:
2017-2018 Drive Away Hunger Challenge
All Williamson County and Franklin Special School District schools will participate in the 2017-2018 Drive Away Hunger Challenge from April 2 - April 13. This drive will benefit Graceworks, The Nolensville Food Pantry, and The Well and One Generation Away.
Students are encouraged to bring the following items to school for the food drive: Ramen noodles, granola bars, peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers, fruit snacks/raisins, mac and cheese microwavable bowls, ravioli/spaghetti microwavable bowls, cereal, fruit cups, microwaveable popcorn, and shelf stable milk and juice boxes. All food should be individual sized portions.
Cash/check donations are also accepted and are very helpful to these community organizations. They are able to use these funds to purchase food for pennies on the dollar. Financial support also allows them to purchase food they rarely receive, i.e. shelf stable milk and fruit. All donations collected with this event go directly to these organizations and the fuel bag program. All checks should be made out to either GraceWorks, the Nolensville Food Pantry, the Well or One Generation Away with the name of the school in the notes section. Cash or Checks may be given to your child's homeroom teacher.
There will be two grand prizes awarded. The school that collects the highest number of pounds and the school with the highest average pounds per student will each receive $1,250. Darrell Waltrip Automotive Group is sponsoring this contest. For the challenge competition purposes, every $1 donated = 8lbs of food. The details for the contest can be found at www.darrellwaltrip.com/hungerchallenge.
There will be several boxes in each grade level hallway and in the foyer of Middle School where food can be dropped off. If you have any questions about the food drive you can contact Keith Welch (PGMS School Counselor) at 615-472-3993.
We appreciate your help in serving our community!
Spirit Night at McDonald's
PGES will receive 10% of all sales. Be sure to put the date on your calendar so that you do not miss out on this fun evening with family, friends and FOOD!

GRADE LEVEL NEWS:
5TH GRADE NEWS:
5th grade continues to prepare for 6th grade. Academically, we continue to challenge the kids and they never seem to disappoint us as they continue to rise to the level of expectation. They truly are our heroes.
We went on an incredible walking tour of Downtown Nashville earlier in March. We learned about all the incredible people who helped make Nashville what it is today. The kids enjoyed history as told through stories of some prominent Tennesseeans who paved the way for the city that we know and love today.
We traveled through Civil War, Vietnam War, World War 1 and 2 and were able to hear about the men (and women), who gave their lives so that we may continue to live in a country where our rights are recognized. Many of the parent chaperones who attended expressed their enjoyment on the tour. It was truly a FANTASTIC tour. (If you're interested in doing one yourself, you can google Nashville Walking Tours and get in on the same fun that we did).
