5/3/2019: Your Weekly Update for Mayfield Intermediate
End of the Year Excitement
Second, we have our 6th Grade School Dance scheduled for Friday, June 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. This will be a time for our sixth graders to get together and celebrate with the friends that they have made here at Mayfield. Students can purchase tickets in the cafeteria during arrival as long as they have a signed permission slip. Students must also display their Bobcat Best for the remainder of the year in order to be able to attend.
Finally, we are in the initial stages of organizing end of the year celebrations for our 5th and 6th grade classes. On Monday, June 10th we will celebrate our 5th graders with a ceremony at 8:00 AM at Mayfield. On Wednesday, June 12th we will celebrate our 6th graders with a ceremony at 8:00 AM at Mayfield.
SOL Testing Begins May 14th
When we return from spring break we will have a couple weeks before we start SOL testing. Our goal is for students to be excited about participating in the SOL exam. The SOL exam should be a time for students to show off how much they have learned this year and how much they have grown. Please start telling your child how proud you are of them and how they are going to rock on the SOL exam. They are prepared to experience success!
Here is the current schedule:
May 15: 6th Grade Reading
May 21: 5th Grade Math
May 22: 6th Grade Math
May 31: 5th Grade Science
Teacher Appreciation Week: May 6th- May 10th
Monday- Ride to School in Style- The administrators will be offering their time during teachers' planning periods to wash teachers' cars. All the teachers need to do is drive their car over to the parking spots located next the gardens and the admin team will make sure that it comes out looking shiny and new.
Tuesday- We Got You Covered- The administrators will be taking care of teachers' recess duty. The admin team will be working with Mrs. Dove and Officer Lawler to cover the students' recess so that teachers can have a little extra time to relax and prepare those amazing lessons. Also, the administrators will visit every classroom during the day and provide teachers an opportunity to select from the Mayfield Snack Cart.
Wednesday- Come Hungry- Teachers will also have a Baked Potato Bar during lunch to have time and celebrate with their colleagues.
Thursday- You are the Keys to Success- Teachers will be provided with a personalized Mayfield Keychain that helps show that they are the keys to success for our students and families.
Friday- Sweets and Treats- The Sunshine Club will be providing teachers with a bunch of wonderful deserts to nibble on throughout the day.
Rising 5th Grade Night has Been Scheduled
Ms. Dove has organized for some of our safety patrols to be on hand to provide tours of Mayfield Intermediate. We are excited to welcome our newest Bobcats.
Student Celebrations and Clubs
We also are seeing many of our students participated in after school clubs. This week I had the pleasure of observing our 5th Grade Boys Basketball program compete against each other. We are so fortunate that Mr. Krizmanich takes time to organize this program for our students. We also had our garden club with Mrs. Hammad busy this week as they harvested the crops that we had in our school garden and then prepared the garden for a new crop of foods.
Finally, last week our band and orchestra participated in the All-City Band and Orchestra Concerts at Osbourn High School. Mr. Tressler and Mr. Souza did an awesome job preparing our students to participate in this great show. Way to go students.
