The Cheetah Chat
Ms. In's Inside Scoop
May 18, 2019
Dear Creek View families,
Summer is in the air! Our days are longer and warmer, and we are approaching our last week of school for the 2018-2019 school year! This is a bittersweet time for us, especially for our 5th grade students. We are so excited for our 5th grade students as they embark on their middle school journey and for the bright futures ahead of them, but we are also sad at the thought that this will be there last week at CVES. We plan to send them off with a very special celebration and a week full of fun events to help make their final days at CVES memorable ones.
The 5th grade Promotion Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 22, at 8:30 am with a reception immediately following in the gym. All parents and guests will enter through the side cafeteria doors by the bus loading area beginning at 8:00 am. Please do not arrive before 8:00 am as it will impact our heavy carpool and school bus traffic.
* Due to space limitations and restraints, please understand siblings will not be allowed into the cafeteria for the promotion ceremony.
I wish everyone a wonderful weekend! Go Cheetahs!

Best,
Monica In

Leadership Trait of the Month - Curiosity
As adults, we can encourage students to be curious by:
- Modeling it - cheerfully admit that you don't know what you don't know - "I actually don't know how to do that problem. Let's look it up together!" However you enjoy exploring your own personal interests whether it is through books, podcasts, or documentaries, share what you like: "I listened to the most interesting story today. Let me tell you about it!"
- Celebrating it - praise question-asking - "What a great question! I love that you're interested about that!"
- Enabling it - make room for curiosity - When planning an activity, factor in time for questions. Establish an end-of-day ritual to share one thing each person in the family learned that was something they didn't know before. Replace close-ended questions ("Is oxygen a component of the air we breathe?") with more open-ended questions ("What is air made of?").

New Policy for Lost Books
In an effort to replace lost Media Center books as quickly as possible, we are asking for lost books to be replaced (if possible) instead of paid for. This will help us to keep the lost title in stock for other students to check out. Replacement titles can be easily purchased on Amazon or other retailers. If you cannot replace the lost book, an online payment system has been created for your convenience. You may pay online by going to the Creek View Website. Click on the OSP letters (found on the right side of the screen). Please email Mrs. McGill, our bookkeeper, at mcgill@fultonschools.org if you have questions about an online payment. No more cash or checks will be accepted in the media center. Thank you!
