Editing the Personal Narrative
Make only positive, constructive comments.
Edit the Paper & Check All of the Following:
The introductory paragraph. Does it move from general to specific?
The thesis statement. Is the thesis statement the last sentence in the introduction? Is it clear and specific?
Topic sentences. Does each body paragraph begin with a topic sentence that tells the reader what that paragraph is about?
Conclusion. Does the conclusion give the reader a sense of resolution? Does it discuss the lesson learned?
Grammar & Punctuation. Mark all problems with grammar and punctuation. Remember that the writer should avoid all forms of the word “you.” Look for sentence fragments and run-on sentences.
