A Note From Mrs. Mathe
Powell Family,
The beginning of a school year is always an exciting time, and we are looking forward to another successful year! Last year brought many different experiences for all of us, which leads us to a bit of uncertainty for the start of this school year. Rest assured, we are continually reassessing safety and health protocols and will make any necessary adjustments to keep the health and safety of our students and staff a top priority. We are excited, ready, and anticipating the arrival of your child.
At Powell Elementary, we believe in collaboration with parents and community members. Powell Elementary will provide a safe, caring, and positive learning environment that celebrates diversity and instills a desire for learning while meeting the individual needs of all students. Our goal is to build relationships that empower students, and develop responsible, patriotic citizens and confident leaders.
I am looking forward to working together with you and your child(ren), and I feel certain that you will enjoy being a part of the Powell Panther family! If we haven't had the opportunity to meet in person yet, please come by and introduce yourself when on campus. I look forward to working alongside all of you this year!
Erin Mathe
Principal

August 11: FIRST DAY SCHOOL

IMPORTANT: Free and Reduced Meals Application
Even though breakfast and lunch are being provided for all students again this year, if you believe you may qualify for free or reduced meals it is still important for your family to complete the application. Your application does not carry over from year to year. Qualification may open up other opportunities for your family in addition to meals as noted below.

School Supply Information
If your family ordered the pre-packaged school supplies at the end of the year last year, they will be distributed to your child's teacher for Meet the Teacher.
If you purchased your own school supplies, please bring them with you on the night of Meet the Teacher. This allows our staff to organize the supplies before the first day of school.

Library News
Thanks to everyone who came to our summer library days! It was wonderful to see current, former, future, and new Powell Panthers! If you have books to return, there are 3 easy ways to get them back us.
*Stop by the school anytime from now through August 10, and put them in the grey bin on the front porch.
*Return them to the library carts in the hallways at Meet the Teacher.
*Return them the first week of school.
Please complete this short survey regarding library hours. We appreciate your opinion and will use the results to make adjustments to this event for next summer.

repeat prekindergarten;
enroll in prekindergarten if the child was eligible to enroll in prekindergarten in the previous school year, under TEC, §29.153(b), and has not yet enrolled in kindergarten;
repeat kindergarten;
enroll in kindergarten if the child would have enrolled in kindergarten in the previous school year and has not yet enrolled in first grade;
for grades one through three, repeat the grade the student was enrolled in the previous school year;
for grades four through eight, repeat the grade the student was enrolled in during the 2020-2021 school year; and
for courses taken for high school credit, repeat any course in which the student was enrolled during the 2020-2021 school year.
