Board Member Reports
Board Members shared highlights of their work from the previous month, and reported the following activities:
- Mr. Jones highlighted his visits throughout the district and commented on the great leaders we have.
- Mr. Barton highlighted welcoming the newest board member, Mark Jones, at the work session. He also commented on being able to see and interact with various students over the last few weeks to get different perspectives.
- Ms. DiGiacomo highlighted her visit to the new Greensboro Elementary School and a community focus group for Caroline County Recreation and Parks as they discussed needs in Caroline County.
- Ms. Wayman highlighted the July work session and events focusing on minority achievements.
- Mr. Newcomb highlighted all the district work that happens over the summer to prepare for the next school year.

PRESENTATIONS
2021-2022 School Year Reopening Plan
The Executive leadership team presented the framework for the plan to reopen schools for the 2021-2022 school year. Dr. Simmons highlighted the 11 requirements from MSDE. The team is still working on getting stakeholder feedback and compiling data into a draft plan.
A summary of the 11 requirements are: plan accessibility, equity, stakeholder feedback, instructional readiness, following state standards in all content areas, following IDEA/Section 504 and Title II of ADA, following procedures and safety protocols from CDC, ensuring safe transportation of all students, tracking attendance during distance learning,
implementing/enhancing a communication plan, and implementing the MPSSAA Athletic Plan.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Teresa Helwig, an instructional assistant for CCPS, wrote to the Board regarding concerns about the support services staff compensation, benefits and hours.
