Apps for Junior High Students

Duolingo

This is a free mobile learning app that allows students to learn another language. Languages include: French, Spanish, Danish, Irish, Dutch, Italian, German and Portuguese. This app is available online, as well as for mobile devices such as the iPhone and iPad.


This would be a fantastic app to use in second language classes in all levels of education, and can act as supplementary practice to class work.

National Geographic World Atlas

This mobile app is a digital world atlas. It offers so much more to students than a standard static map or atlas. This app works well with both the iPad and the iPhone.It is a wonderful reference tool, and would be an excellent app to use in Social Studies classes for all grades, but especially for junior high and high school students.

Videolicious

This mobile app allows students to create professional-looking videos. It is a free mobile app that is available for both the iPhone and the iPad. It would be an excellent mobile app to use for projects and assignments for students in junior high and high school. It is a mobile app that gives students more options to explore and express their creativity in the school work.

Notability

This mobile app is a fantastic note-taking device. It allows students to either type directly or use a stylus pen to hand-write notes directly onto class notes. It is designed for both the iPhone and the iPad. Notability also allows student to create their own notes, by adding images, graphs and documents to customize their learning. Notability is an excellent app for students in both junior high and high school, in any course.

World Lens

This is a mobile app that is great for translations. It translates text into a variety of languages. This app is available for the iPhone, the iPad, as well as Adroid devices. World Lens would be a fantastic tool for students in second language courses, in both junior high and high school.
