Our Class Mission
"In Mrs. Tanzi's class, our mission is to be respectful by listening, kind by helping others, thoughtful by making others feel good, and responsible by working hard and following the rules."
Family Connections
Reading Skills
Several reading skills can be applied while watching a tv show, movie, or listening to a song.
- Identify the conflict (problem), resolution (solution or answer at the end), the characters and setting (where it takes place), and the theme (moral lesson).
- Compare two characters by asking how they are alike, different, how they respond to situations, or their character traits.
- What is the point of view? Whose perspective is being told? How would the song/movie/show be different if it was told from another person's perspective?
Math Skills
Several of our math skills can be applied while cooking, budgeting, and shopping.
- Read large numbers (up to the billions)
- Compare two numbers (whole numbers and decimals)
- Add and subtract whole numbers and decimals
Multiplication Facts:
- If you're playing basketball, for every basket they don't make, give them a multiplication fact problem. This could be applied to other sports as well!
- If you're playing a board game, they must answer a multiplication fact every time they go around the board, play an Uno card, or some other variety.
Celebrations
We celebrated 100 Tiger Badges! The Schofield Canteen came and we were able to pick out a prize. Tiger Badges are earned when the entire class is following expectations and demonstrating leadership behavior.
