Skype Author Visit in May 2015 with Local Teen Writer
Save the date! Tuesday, May 19th we will be hosting a Skype event for AHS students with local teen author, Maya Van Wagenen, co-sponsored by the Albany Public Library. Maya wrote the memoir, Popular chronicling her unique social experiment. She spent the school year following a 1950s popularity guide found at a thrift store, written by former teen model Betty Cornell. Can hair curlers, girdles, Vaseline, and a strand of pearls help Maya on her quest to be popular? The real-life results are painful, funny, and include a wonderful and unexpected surprise meeting with Betty Cornell herself. This event will be held in the UN Room at Albany High School from 1:30 - 3:00 pm.
Would you like to get involved?
We have multiple opportunities for parents and families to volunteer for upcoming library and book club events. We welcome parent chaperones at all of our events and are actively seeking volunteers. If interested, please feel free to text or call (518) 703-6031 for more details.
