Loads of Learning: Making Centers Fun & Organized

Wednesday, Dec. 2nd, 7-7:30am

Brandi Martz's Classroom

Need help with centers? This is the session for you. Get organized and make fun, meaningful centers all at the same time.

RSVPs are enabled for this event.

Teachers and Staff, lately we have had several incidents during recess and some of these things could've been avoided had children been monitored more closely. Please make sure children are being watched more closely. Also, make sure there are not too many children playing at one time. Thank you for fixing this.

Fishman Prize for Exemplary Teachers

Applications are now open for the TNTP Fishman Prize http://tntp.org/fishman-prize . Annually, TNTP recognizes up to five teachers who are providing exemplary education to their students. Award recipients receive $25,000 and the opportunity to participate in a three week summer residency. During the residency teachers meet with each other, TNTP staff, and leading figures in education to collaborate and write the Fishman Prize Essays, which are shared nationally.

A previous winner from North Carolina summarized her experience saying, “As a result of these experiences, I no longer see myself as an educator making a difference in one classroom at a time—I am a game changer, redefining what it means to be a teacher leader at the district, state, and national level.”

Please encourage the game changers in your school to apply for the Fishman Prize. The application is available at http://tntp.org/fishman-prize/how-to-apply is due by Jan. 5. If you have any questions, please email Adriana.Harrington@tn.gov.

Title III/ ESL- From Jennifer Roten

Hi Teachers,

All students that mark Spanish on any of the 3 required Home Language Survey questions (located on the registration form) are required to be tested by the ESL screener W-APT. If students score below proficient on the screener, then by law, students are to receive 60 minutes of ESL services daily by an ESL certified teacher. Students will continue to receive services until they test out of the program by scoring higher than 3.6 on Literacy Proficiency and Overall Composite on the English Proficiency test (ACCESS). This test will be given in spring 2016. All teachers with ESL students are required to provide accommodations as needed. For additional information on accommodations, please e-mail Ms. Sylvia Clark, Certified ESL Teacher.

Remember tomorrow is W.O.W Day!

Please be thinking about how your country will be represented in this festival. This will take place Thursday evening, December 10 from 6:00-7:30 in the gym. Your country should be portrayed in the way they celebrate Christmas, if they do, and through a game. The events team will have more information for you soon.

Kindergarten and First Grade Conference

We had a wonderful time in Franklin this week. We learned so many things that we will share with you soon. Some things I learned made me rethink how we do things... Check out the picture about behavior below. Students need to behave for you. How can YOU get them to do that?
