Laozi started off his life when he was born in c.604 BC, his natural given name was Er Dan, meaning ‘long ears’ in English (that name was a reference to Chinese symbolism, symbolizing wisdom and longevity, rather than what he actually looked like. He worked as an archivist before he had an disillusion and went westward to gain knowledge on his own. Laozi actually berated Confucius (another Chinese thinker, that boasted you should pay respect to your elders) For being arrogant and having a lack of knowledge, or ignorance. Laozi taught the wisdom of living a quiet, non-aggressive approach to life, in fact it closely related to the subject of pacifism.
Born 604 BC, Died 531 BC
