Middle School Weekly Update
A Note From Mrs. Gray
Let me begin by wishing you all a Happy New Year filled with many successes and continued progress. I hope that the holiday season brought your family joy and peace. I am looking forward to a new year and the promise it brings. January is a great time for reflection, celebration, and reconnection. I certainly spent some time reflecting on 2021 and think about the work and opportunities that lie ahead in 2022. I found a quote from Honor the Beginning by Melody Beattie that reminds us to pause and honor the beginning of a new chapter or phase in our lives.
Beginnings can be delicate or explosive. They can start almost invisibly or arrive with a big bang. Beginnings hold the promise of new lessons to be learned, new territory to be explored and old lessons to be recalled, practiced, and appreciated. Beginnings hold ambiguity, promise, fear, and hope. Don't let the lessons, the experiences of the past, dampen your enthusiasm for beginnings. Just because it has been hard doesn't mean it will always be that difficult. Don't let the heartbreaks of the past cause you to become cynical, close you off to life's magic and promise... Let yourself begin anew... A new journey has begun. Let it unfold... Take time to honor the beginning.
As we enter this new calendar year, our staff and students will be focusing on reconnecting, resetting, and reviewing norms. We will be celebrating successes and setting new goals for growth. I am excited for the new beginning and the promise that it brings to us at Gray Stone.
