Editing as Activism:
2-Part Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
In honor of Black History Month
The Social Justice Organizers are hosting a two-day Wikipedia editing event in honor of Black History Month. 80% of Wikipedia editors are white men, leaving out the perspectives of many people of color and women. Wikipedia Edit-a-thons are held worldwide to bring more women and people of color into the editing community and to expand the encyclopedia. While anyone can edit Wikipedia, there is a learning curve. This two-day event features a hands-on workshop to give you that necessary literacy.
