Osceola Middle School
August 2023 Newsletter
Welcome Back to School!
All kids matter, are important, and can grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2023-2024 school year! With each approaching school year, excitement and anticipation are abundant! We hope you are eager to send your child to Osceola Middle School because we are excited for your child to come to us to learn and grow as students and as people!
As a fellow parent, I know you are fortunate to send your child to a district in which each staff member truly cares about the academic achievement and growth as well as the social and emotional development of each and every student, and at OMS, that is especially true. I feel very lucky to have such an amazing team to help support our students. We continually work to improve how we serve our students, and we are looking forward to seeing your student(s) grow as learners and as people!
Information overload! I have a variety of items for you and your student(s) to look through carefully. This newsletter covers many details that we go over each year. Additional information can be found in our student/parent handbook which can be viewed during online registration or on my webpage. Task #1: Please make sure that the email you have listed in Skyward is accurate; regular, essential emails will be sent through Skyward to provide you with OMS and District information. There are many enclosures included in today’s mailing. Although I’m sure it is highly anticipated, actual schedules will not be available until Open House.
If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask. TOGETHER we are STRONGER!

District-Wide Open House
August 24th | 4:00-6:30pm
Open House will be held on Thursday, August 24th from 4:00-6:30. While this is not a required event, student schedules with locker numbers and combinations will be passed out this day and it is a great time to turn in any forms, fees, and lunch money. Students will also be able to go to their lockers, put school supplies away, and get acquainted with where their classes will be. This is also the time OMS students have their 23-24 school picture taken. (If you are not able to attend, your student will take their picture on our retake day.)
Bring to Open House
*$8 Activity Fee (check memo: Activity Fee)
*Lunch Money (put into provided envelope) (can be done online)
*$35 Device Protection Plan (DPP) (family cap is $105) (check memo: DPP) (one family can be in one check) (can be done online)

Online Registration
It is time to complete this year’s (2023-2024) registration information. To ensure we have the most current information on your child, we ask that you complete the registration process in your Family Access account prior to the beginning of the school year (August 29).
Forms can be filled out on multiple devices, however, laptops and desktop computers work best. Please make sure to maximize the browser window and click on “View Full Screen” in Family Access to ensure you see the entire form.
Parents/guardians of returning Osceola Virtual Academy students should also complete the online registration process by logging into their Family Access accounts.
Online Registration is located in Family Access. Here is the link to the Skyward Family Access login page. You can also get to Family Access by navigating to the district website (www.osceola.k12.wi.us) and clicking on the Family Access login icon in the upper-right corner. If you do not remember your password, please click on Forgot your Login/Password? If you do not receive an email after clicking the link, please check your Spam folder.
Thank you in advance for completing your child’s online registration forms. Building administrative assistants will be returning on August 1 if you have any questions.

Transportation
A message from Steve Leslie, Transportation Director
We strive to create conditions that contribute to the success of students by providing a comfortable, reliable, and safe service that responds to the ever-changing needs of the Osceola School Districts student population.
Approximately 1,800 students will attend school this year, and almost 1,400 of them will ride a bus to and from school. Our fleet of almost 30 buses will travel more than 400,000 miles this year either on school routes or extracurricular trips and consume more than 35,000 gallons of fuel.
In order to give needed attention to the ever-changing traffic situations, it is vital that drivers get full cooperation from their passengers and that all students obey the bus rules. Please help promote safety and good ridership by reviewing bus safety rules with your children along with familiarizing yourself with other resources and information on this website.
By working together we can safeguard your child from potential hazards associated with all aspects of transportation, both on and off the bus. I hope you and your child have a productive and safe year.
If you have a change in your child’s busing needs please call us 715-294-3456.
Thank you for your support!
2023-2024 Bus Information will be available on August15th! Please check the StopFinder App or Transportation webpage.
