PRAIRIE POST

April 30, 2021

Message from the Principal

Hello Prairie Friends & Families,

It's hard to believe that May is almost here! Our 4K friends delivered May Day kindness to homes in the neighborhood. They had so much fun spreading positive cheer! Shout out to our 4K team for organizing this event.

Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness month? And more specifically, next week is Children's Mental Health Awareness Week. Please join us in wearing GREEN on Friday, May 7th to show support for those experiencing mental health concerns and to help break the stigma around talking about mental health. If you're interested, take a read through this parent/guardian resource to learn more about mental health and the resources for support.

Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We will be celebrating our Prairie teachers throughout the week. Are you thankful for a teacher? Let them know next week!

Have a lovely weekend!

We are Team Prairie!

We are stronger together!

Carly Solberg

Principal

GOT SNEAKERS FUNDRAISER: Thank you to all of those who have already donated shoes to our fundraiser. As spring cleaning is starting up remember this is an ongoing fundraiser so keep searching for shoes! Did you know that your gently worn sneakers could help Prairie PTA? Prairie PTA is participating in a fundraiser where you donate your shoes. All we need is your support and your gently worn, used ,or new sneakers! Here’s how you can help. Start in your and your family’s closets and gather as many pairs of sneakers that you no longer want; maybe you’ve out-grown them, they’re out of style, or out of season. If you and your household have 20 pairs, great! If not, don’t worry. You can ask your neighbors, friends, co-workers, and anyone in your social networks to help out. Every pair counts! The sneakers that we all collect will help raise money to support Prairie PTA AND will help our environment by keeping sneakers out of landfills.

All you have to do is send your children to school with your sneakers or drop them off at school. Please no boots or dress shoes or sandals. Every pair that is donated earns up to $7 per pair.

OFFICERS FOR NEXT YEAR: We have openings for a President, Executive Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer for next year. Please consider serving in this capacity for your child's school. If interested, please contact ptaprairie@gmail.com

Early Pick Up for Students

If you need to pick up your student early for any reason or for appointments during the day, please come in to the lobby and buzz the office. We will call your child down at that point and sign them out from the office. It is helpful to email the teacher and Mrs. Anderson of expected times so we can try to have them ready to leave.

Dropping off Supplies

We have a new procedure in place if you need to drop off student materials during the day (lunch, homework, jackets, iPads, etc). The outside door to the lobby of the school is open. There are "drop off tickets" on the table inside the door. Please complete your child's name, grade/teacher, and the item being delivered with any special instructions. We will deliver it to the classroom just as soon as we can. Thank you for your support.

School Fees

All school fees have been assigned in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Fees can be paid by credit card through this portal or by cash/check in the Prairie office. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Anderson at vanderso@waukesha.k12.wi.us.
