Spring Project Request! PTO is again offering a project request. Please use the following:

As in previous years, the PTO will sponsor scholarships for graduating seniors. Applications are open to all seniors for the three scholarships awarded by recommendation of the PTO scholarship committee. Applications must be hand written, so the application will need to be printed. You can read about the scholarships and find the link to download at the bottom of this webpage: https://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/3296. Paper applications can be obtained in the counseling office. PTO scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year will be $1000 each. Applications are due March 1, 2019.

There is no Coffee with the Counselor in February because the counselors are so busy with scheduling. Mark your calendar for March 6 when we meet to talk about career exploration.

Odd Couples Ball

A great event for you to bond with your child and their friends! Coordinate with parents of your son/daughter's friends -- from band, any sport, quiz team, bowling, math club, drama, choir, business club, etc. -- to create a memorable evening together! Save the date, March 9th, for an amazing evening -- a dinner/dance where students bring a favorite adult ($25/person).

Come help create the decorations for the Odd Couples Ball. Students looking for service hours and parents willing to lend a hand! The Decorations Committee NEEDS YOU!!! Please come help -- No Experience necessary -- on Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 pm in room 220. Please contact Cindy Loon (513-324-5373) if you have any trouble getting into the building or finding the room.

Lunch deliveries

Parents, this is a reminder to not deliver fast food to school for your children for lunch. Lunches from fast-food restaurants will not be accepted or permitted to be left at the school Attendance Office beginning second semester.

Sycamore advisory commission

Sycamore Advisory Commission, a committee appointed by our Board of Education, is currently accepting applications for at-large memberships.

Applicants must live or work fulltime within the District, and must support the mission and goals of Sycamore Community Schools. This year, the deadline for submitting an application is March 4, 2019. Application forms may be obtained by calling the District Office at 513-686-1700.

Sycamore HS Annual Cabaret, Feb. 9

The Sycamore Vocal Boosters proudly present the 2019 Cabaret @ Sycamore High School in The Hub starting at 7p on Saturday, February 9th. The Cabaret features members of the HS Choral Program as soloists and in small ensembles in a coffeehouse atmosphere, singing jazz standards, musical theatre, folk, classical and foreign language pieces. Tickets $10 Advance | $12 Door.

Dan Henke SAFA Scholarship

The Dan Henke SAFA Scholarship is a $1,000 award presented to one Sycamore senior each year. Dan Henke is a leader in our alumni association. He served as a teacher, coach and administrator at Sycamore High School for nearly three decades. In the true goals of the Sycamore Alumni and Friends Association (SAFA), the student receiving this award exemplifies the 'Spirit of Sycamore.' He/she is one who demonstrates strong academic performance, pride in extracurricular involvement, passionate community service and volunteerism, and enthusiastic school spirit. They represent what it means to be an Aviator, both as a leader to the students and staff within the walls of Sycamore, and to the community as a whole. Once selected, this student will assume the responsibility of speaking at our Distinguished Alumni dinner prior to graduation, and also maintaining contact with SAFA after graduation for alumni activities.

Applicants should submit:

1) A resume or bio of involvement, activities, and achievements

2) A one-page cover letter of why they feel they deserve this award

After Prom 2019 - Under the Sea!

Planning has started so...SAVE THE DATE...After Prom will be Sunday, April 28th from 12-4am at SHS.

A BIG thank you to senior Sammi Miller for designing our great logo this year!

What is After Prom: After Prom takes place following Prom and is open to all Sycamore Juniors and Seniors and their dates. With the work of many amazing parent volunteer, decorations will transform the high school into an "under the sea" adventure. Tickets are $20 and include unlimited food from local favorite restaurants, a professional hypnotist show, 2 gyms full of adult-size inflatables and other games, henna/airbrush tattoo artists, tables of casino games, and the "infamous" end-of-night raffle prize drawing. Sycamore juniors and seniors do not need to attend Prom to attend After Prom. This is an amazing Sycamore tradition!

DECORATIONS: Our first 2 work nights will be on Wednesday, February 20th & Thursday, February 28 from 7-9pm. Meet in the Commons - come with a friend and help create a special night for our students! No experience necessary.

The Sycamore High School Environmental Club is partnering with Trex recycling to collect and recycle plastic packaging. The contest runs from November 15-April 15, 2019. Collection boxes are out now at school entrances for events and at the front entrance of the high school on regular school days. We can accept the following types if plastic:

  • Grocery bags
  • Ziplock and other reclosable bags
  • Bread bags
  • Case overwrap (plastic around cases of beverages)
  • Dry cleaning bags
  • Newspaper sleeves
  • Ice bags
  • Wood pellet bags
  • Produce bags
  • Bubble Wrap
  • Salt pellet bags
  • Cereal bags

All plastic must be clean, dry and free of food
