Message From Your Leadership Team
We had an incredible month celebrating Black History Month! From the art work to the music to the poets to the biographies to the culminating assembly featuring music, dance and poetry; so much was learned and celebrated by our entire school community! You should have received the start time survey half sheet of paper sent home in backpacks and link via email today. Please take the 30 seconds it will take you to provide your feedback.
In an effort to maintain the highest level of safety and security for our students that will remain in the building for WonderCare during our Parent-Teacher Conference half-days, our building will remain locked. Upon arrival for your parent-teacher conference, you’ll need to go through the main office to check in. Each grade level will have a folder and name tags organized by classroom teacher. You’ll need to locate and wear the tag(s) that has your child’s name, teacher and date/time of your conference. Please be aware that this process may take a few minutes so please plan to arrive about 5 minutes prior to your conference start time. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding that the procedural change has been made with the safety of our students in mind.
Warm Regards,
Jen Sullivan (Principal) and Jill Doyle (Assistant Principal)

Box Tops
We are still collecting Box Tops at Plank South! The program has changed, and most of the Box Tops are collected digitally now by scanning your store receipts. Don’t forget to get the app on your phone! You can also find bonus Box Tops opportunities on the app when you buy certain items throughout the year!
Some items in store still have Box Tops that can be clipped and turned in at school! We collect at the end of each month. Proceeds fund the PTSA events throughout the year!

Message From The Health Office
“Tis The Season” for winter illnesses!
The decision to keep your child home from school is not always clear cut. Most often your child will do fine in school with a little encouragement! Here are some guidelines to use in determining whether your child should stay home.
Any condition you think or know is contagious to others.
Fever greater than 100.4 orally. Your child should remain out of school until temperature is less than 100.4 for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
Your child is too ill, sleepy or lethargic to sit and learn.
Sore throat with fever or lethargy - consult a physician
Honey-crusted sores around the nose or mouth - consult a physician
Headache with fever - consult a physician
Severe ear pain or drainage from the ear - consult a physician
Red eye with itching AND drainage - consult a physician
If your child receives a diagnosis of strep throat, they need to be on antibiotic therapy for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
When calling in an absence it is very helpful to indicate the reason. For example stating strep throat or vomiting is helpful to the nurse for tracking illnesses, stating “sick” gives no significant information.
As always if you have any questions please feel free to call the health office at 670-4054.
