Family Newsletter- November
A note from Mrs. McCaslin and Mr. Israelson
Welcome to Thankful November! We are so grateful for the students we are privileged to teach each day! We are grateful to our families that continue to make learning a priority and support your students' educational journey! As we reflect on all things we are appreciative for, it is more evident than ever before that our family partnerships are key to student success! Thank you to each of our family members for your collaboration and support through the following year(s)!
As the weather changes and it begins getting colder outdoors, we ask that students come prepared to be outdoors daily. We will be outdoors unless it is 11 degrees or below (wind chill is factored in). If you or your child are in need of coats, hats, mittens we can help! You would need to call our offices at 630-739-0185 and speak to our Community Liaison, Ms. Shawna Joy McIntyre. The importance of play and fresh air are vital to development and we will do our best to be outside whenever possible.
In speaking about outdoor play, we have had one very important issue come up recently. We are seeing a variety of social media and explicit shows being depicted through our day. For example, in the popular netflix show, Squid Games, there is a sequence of events that would be considered school inappropriate. Recently, we've had an influx of students playing this game at recess. We've seen many students having issues in our bathroom due to tiktok challenges. As a school, we are interactive modeling, having supportive conversations, and taking disciplinary action when necessary. Please continue to have conversations at home regarding school appropriate games and digital citizenship.
We have a lot of exciting things happening here at Wood View over the upcoming weeks! See below for some exciting annoucements!
Thank you again for your partnership,
Jessica McCaslin, Principal
Robert Israelson, Asst. Principal
