4-H Animal Entry Reminders
Bucket calves: Bucket calves to be exhibited at the fair must be identified and ear-tagged with official Nebraska 4-H bucket calf Id forms and ear tags by June 15th. In addition, youth exhibiting bucket calves at the county fair need to complete a record book and turn it into the Extension office by July 15th.
Feeder Calves: Must have ID and ear tag by June 15th
Clover Kids: Can show bucket calf, sheep goat, swine, cat, dog, poultry, and rabbits. All animals must have identification submitted to the Extension Office by June 15. Clover Kid Animal Entry Forms are due by the first Friday in July to the York County Extension Office.
For all other 4/H FFA livestock DNA Envelopes, Breeding Nomination cards, county identification forms, premises ID and copies of registration sheets are due to the extension office by June 15th.

Weed ID Practice
Jenny will be hosting a Weed ID Practice on Monday, June 10 from 5-6 p.m. at the Extension Office. Please RSVP to Jenny if you plan on attending.
In case you didn't know, there are 4-H ID contests at the State Fair (horticulture, Weed and grass, tree, and insect) where youth 10 and older can compete. Jenny has Weed books and flashcards in her office for any families who don’t have them if your youth are interested. If you’d like to see what a contest is like, June 27th is a free plant ID contest in Columbus at the Fairgrounds from 12:15-4 p.m. There’s no charge and carpooling could be an option. Clover kids can attend too! Our County Fair Contest day will be July 16th.

All youth ages 8-18 enrolled in any of the following animal projects will need to complete YQCA training: • Beef (bucket calf, feeder calf, breeding beef, market beef) • Dairy cattle • Goat (breeding meat goat, dairy goat, meat goat) • Poultry • Rabbit • Sheep (breeding sheep, market sheep) • Swine (breeding swine, market swine)
Youth must be currently enrolled at https://ne.4honline.com
Complete online training at https://yqca.learngrow.io. Cost is $12. For directions and more information, visit https://4h.unl.edu/yqca. Once training is complete, send completed certificates to Tanya Crawford, tanya.crawford@unl.edu or drop off at the Extension Office. If certificates are not submitted, we have no way of knowing if trainings have been completed. No certificate = No Certification
Deadline to complete Youth for Quality Care of Animals (Quality Assurance) is June 15.

As usual, sign up early to get your favorite spot before they fill up. Please sign up by July 5. It is expected that at least one person from every family works at least one shift!
REMINDER: PLEASE WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES AND A HAT OF SOME KIND.
The 4-H Foodstand is a major fundraiser for the York County 4-H Program. The money raised will go directly to York County 4-Hers through scholarships, workshops and other learning opportunities.
