PANTHER PROWL
CIMARRON MIDDLE SCHOOL SEPT/OCT 2019
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Panther Families & Young Scholars,
We are well into our fall semester at Cimarron. I love being the principal at Cimarron Middle School! I have the privilege to work with a wonderful and hard-working educator team, talented young scholars, supportive families, and an amazing community.
As you know, the middle school years are a significant time in the development of our young men and young women. I look forward to working with each of you to make our school year a success. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions, comments, or epiphanies throughout the year.
If you have yet to hear it today; you are loved.
Gabe Schmidt
Cimarron Middle School Principal

REMEMBER YOUR I.D. BADGE
This year all of our middle and high school students, as well as the staff members of all K-12 schools, are expected to wear a school-specific photo ID, displayed on a lanyard. Daily use of the IDs will provide both students and adults immediate assurances that only those who belong within the walls of the school are invited during the school day.
Please assist your student in remembering to wear their I.D. Badge EVERY SCHOOL DAY. We encourage students to store their badge in their backpacks each afternoon so it will be easy to locate for the next school day. Your help is appreciated as we continue efforts toward a safe and secure school environment.

FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS
PERSONAL DEVICES
We recognize that personal devices are part of the everyday world we live in as well as our future, and know the amazing capability that today’s technology brings to our life. At Cimarron Middle School, personal devices must be off and out of sight for the duration of the school day. In remaining consistent with our middle school practice, devices will be allowed prior to the first school bell at 7:40 and after the last bell at 2:40.
We are seeking to increase classroom engagement and reduce outside distractions, and we appreciate your support in this transition. Should a need arise for an urgent message to your child, we will be happy to help with that communication through our office at 405.340.2935.
DAILY DELIVERIES
Please make arrangements with your student before dropping off lunches, afterschool clothing, equipment, etc. Your assistance with this matter is appreciated.

STUDENT DRESS CODE
Dress Code - EPS Policy #4510
The student dress code is based upon the premise of recognizing fashion without sacrificing decency, safety, and appropriateness.
Tops
Remain on the shoulders
Cover midriffs at all times (even when raising a hand or two)
Remember when wearing tank tops, they must be at least 3 fingers wide at the narrowest location
Undergarments will remain covered
Frayed, shredded, ripped or torn garments are not to be worn
Bottoms
Keep your undergarments covered
If your top is longer than your shorts, ask yourself ‘Does my top pass the pencil rule?’ When I leave home and when I enter school
Correct your apparel before beginning the day.
- sometimes the bottom garment shrinks before your 1st hr.
- Do my fingers touch my skin when at my side? Then my bottoms are too short.
Frayed, shredded, ripped or torn garments are not to be worn
Footwear
Wear appropriate shoes, closed-toe shoes are the safest.
Pencil Rule - our bottom garment will touch a pencil when you place at the top of your kneecap (patella) at home, prior to beginning the day, and throughout the day
