Coming up...
Important Dates in Term 4
Welcome back to Tali (Rm 12 ) and Tāua (Rm 5).
We are certainly roaring into the end of the term with so many activities on for our students. This week alone we have three lots of zone sporting events for our intermediate students. A real highlight of last week of course was the acknowledgement of Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Maori Language Week). I hope you have all managed to pick up an extra phrase or two.
Last Thursday, our Deputy Head Student Kyra represented KTS at the APPA Y7/8 Tongan Speech Competition at Sutton Park School. She delivered a moving speech about what it means to her to be Tongan. The intermediates were lucky enough to have her perform her speech to them before the competition. Congratulations Kyra!
After more than a year working through planning consents and getting MOE confirmation of the funding, we are finally able to proceed with the replacement of the Year 4 and 5 balcony and stairs. This has turned out to be quite a major project. Work will start at the end of term and continue throughout term 4. As there is going to be a lot of noise and disruption, the Board has agreed to rent four learning spaces for Rooms 10–13 in the building next door to the school. The classes will walk back and forth for morning tea and lunch breaks but will be able to maintain a major focus on their learning whilst the replacement work is undertaken.
Please keep an eye out for our end-of-term learning posts next week. Students and their teachers have been working on these and look forward to sharing them with you.
Please remember that Monday is now a public holiday so the school will be closed for instruction. We also turn clocks forward an hour early on Sunday morning. Finally, just to let you know I will be on leave for the remainder of next week. Erynn Riesterer will be leading the school for these four days, ably supported by Rachel Ogilvy.

Jump Jam celebration
This Thursday 22nd Sept, from 3pm to 3.45pm, we will be hosting a pizza afternoon tea to celebrate our recent success at the Central Auckland Jump Jam competition.
The children will meet their coaches in the Junior Playground and pizza will be provided by the school. You are welcome to join us from 3pm or you can collect your child from the Junior Playground at 3.45pm. Or, if they need to be dropped at after-school care, please let us know.
We are looking forward to commemorating our awesome achievements and bonding in our teams.
