A MESSAGE FROM DR. HARRIS, SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS AND BHS PRINCIPAL MR. MCWILLIAMS
Please take a moment to view this video before reading the following message.
Over the past couple of months, current and former Barrington 220 students have shared experiences which make it clear that together as a school community we must work toward a greater understanding of our differences as they pertain to race, culture and gender.
First and foremost, we want to acknowledge and affirm the lived experiences of our students. We will use these as affirmation of the work that we MUST continue to do to make our district more inclusive and equitable for all.
Please know that we address any instances as we learn about them in an appropriate and restorative way that is consistent with our values and beliefs as a school district.
Let us be clear: Hate has no place in Barrington 220. As a school community, we stand for respect and inclusion. As described in Board Policy 7.20 “Harassment of Students Prohibited”, harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated. Please know that we have trusted adults in all of our schools who students can go to if they have a concern. Students who don’t feel comfortable reaching out to an adult can submit concerns by visiting our Safety 220 webpage and submitting a bullying and harassment form.
We look forward to working together to make Barrington 220 a place where all are free to learn in a safe and welcoming environment.
BHS DISTANCE LEARNING
It is at the teacher's discretion, based on the curriculum and daily learning targets, to decide the learning method each day. Each course will have 235 minutes of instructional experiences each week. This will be a combination of synchronous and blended learning activities. Each class will have a minimum of two or three synchronous learning experiences each week during the assigned class period. Teachers will post a weekly schedule of learning activities, due dates, and expectations/outcomes. Similar to the regular school year, students may be required to complete homework beyond the scheduled class periods. Timely completion of work and make-up work will be required.
