Principal's Message

We were so excited to celebrate our scholars with our first school-wide incentive teaser...the tattoo party. It was great to see scholars celebrated for their hard work and making G.R.E.A.T. choices. Keep on the lookout for more details on the magic show Ms. Jones is putting together for scholars showing magical behavior!

We also want to share that we are so blessed to teach with such an amazing staff that create magic in their classrooms everyday! Thanks for all you do!

“We all have magic inside of us.” ~J.K. Rowling

School Wide Focus

This month we are focusing on scholar support! RTI-Academic small groups will begin tomorrow as well as S-Team interventions provided by Claire. In 2nd grade, RTI-Behavior Tier 2 interventions begin tomorrow too. Please ensure all scholars are receiving the supports they need. Remember our EEP vision is a holistic approach to scholar development through academics, character, and virtues in order to prepare them for college and beyond. With that said, the admin team will be spot checking for fidelity during the month of September and providing feedback. If you have any questions on what interventions scholars are receiving, reach out to your coach immediately!

Important Operations Information

Insurance Deductions on Sept. 5 paycheck: A friendly reminder that insurance deductions will begin on your September 5th paycheck. **IMPORTANT: MNPS is still working on uploading benefits information into Benefit Express. Due to the timing of our payroll, it is possible that we won’t have all of the updates before we need to process. This means that there may be corrections that need to occur on the September 19 payroll. Jennifer Ball won’t know until after payroll runs who may be affected; however, she will be checking Benefits Express before each payroll run, and will reach out to individuals who will need adjustments to their premium payments.

Kronos: Email Caroline Rhodes if you need a password reset. Please ensure to enter any sick time within 24 hours of your sick day.

Community Tours: Prospective families will start coming on Tuesdays to tour the school and see scholars and teachers beginning Tuesday, September 3 at 8:30am. Nothing additional you need to do or prepare for other than continue the amazing work you do each day

Week 5!!! Let’s continue to focus on transitions and utilizing the solution space. I have some solution space posters, reflections, and materials if you need it just email me.

  • Transitions- In order to provide a safe and urgent hallway, we will focus this week on transitions and reset hallway expectations across the K-2 team. It is important that leaders, teachers, and scholars are following through on their end of the hallway transitions. Please model these expectations to ensure a high-achieving professional learning environment.

Our Focus Glow this week is still:

  • Enthusiasm/Participation (Be Proactive)

    • Setting a strong example for academic participation

    • Demonstrating authentic engagement and excitement about learning

    • We can use this glow to celebrate scholars who are consistently on task, actively raise their hand, and joyfully complete classwork

  • The WIG GL Winner is KINDER TEAM for the second week in a row!!! Kinder is on a winning streak!!! You crushed the glow focus and this week as a team you had a 7:1 Ratio! KEEP IT UP!

    • ***1st and 2nd grade game on! Who will take KINDER’S CROWN???***

    • Who will take the GL WIG Winner for this week?

  • Quick Reminder per our conversation on Friday - DO NOT DOUBLE UP GLOWS...scholars should be earning one glow at a time...over a time span and truly exhibiting the glow behavior. This way we ensure we are sending home accurate paychecks.

Dean of SEL

Week two of SEL lessons will begin on Tuesday! If you have a Labor Day lesson, you should have received an email rescheduling your lesson. For the upcoming weeks, we will be focusing in on emotions and facial expressions. This is to prepare us for our unit on empathy. Small groups are underway, and second grade should be on the lookout for invites for the next small group!

LIM Habit of the Week: Habit #1 - Be Proactive

  • Get your work done before you play! Plan out how you will complete tasks so that they are manageable. Take charge of situations before they take charge of you!

Meal Train

Lindsey's mom's incredibly well-fought battle with breast cancer has ended. Lindsey & Matt have both dropped everything to care for her during this last stage of the fight, and I know we'd all love to do something to help lessen the load of all that's to come in these next few months. Danielle & Caroline M. will keep you posted on any delivery location changes with plenty of notice.
