Thank You, Dad's Club! (NEW!)

We want to extend a HUGE thank you to the entire Dad's Club for brightening our Thursday last week. They invited Andy Beningo, a stand-up comedian with clean material, to perform for our staff during lunch break. Andy Beningo has performed for Fortune 500 companies, on cruise lines, and in some of the top comedy clubs in the country. The Dad's Club provided a grab-and-go lunch, as well. This was such a great pick-me-up!

We also want to thank the Dad's Club for their ongoing work with our landscaping. They planted new shrubbery this week. It looks amazing!

Thank you, Dad's Club, for everything you do!

Thank You, Srinivasan Family (NEW!)

THANK YOU to Shoba and Sanath Srinivasan, who donated pre-packaged Rebecca's lunches to all of our staff members last Wednesday. We are so humbled by this very generous gesture. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!

Halloween (UPDATED)

Halloween celebrations will be taking place both virtually and in classrooms this Friday. All students will receive a Halloween cookie from Food Services. Virtual families, we will have a pre-packaged Halloween cookie for your child(ren) available for pick-up anytime between 9AM and 4PM this Friday.

PTA Sponsored Stocking Drive

Ridge Wood Cares! Stocking Drive for Northville Civic Concern

Ridge Wood Elementary, we need your help to make the holidays special for Northville Civic Concern children! We are asking volunteers to decorate a stocking and stuff with age-appropriate goodies. If you are interested in participating, please sign up for specific age(s)/gender(s) on the signup genius and pick up a blank stocking(s) from the bins outside the main entrance of Ridge Wood Elementary. Stocking needs to be decorated, stuffed, and returned (sealed in the storage bag provided) to the bins by Monday, November 16th, 2020.

If you have any questions, please contact Ridge Wood Care committee lead, Liza Jenkins, or (734) 417-1310

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should we stuff stockings with?

A: Sign up for an age(s)/gender(s) that you are familiar with so shopping is easier. Bring your kids shopping. If your kid likes an item another kid probably will too. Feel free to also include candy canes and holiday treats and/or personal care items in addition to toys/trinkets. Some ideas for toys include, Rubik’s cube, slinky, yo-yo, word searches and other small activity books, small LEGO sets, light-up keychains, crayons, and play-doh.

Q: How much should we spend per stocking?

A: Feel free to spend an amount you are comfortable with – there is no upper or lower limit.

Q: Is this just for Ridge Wood or can others participate?

A: Anyone can participate! Please forward this to others that may be interested. If your kids are involved in an extracurricular activity those groups/teams may also participate. Just make sure they are using the signup genius link and delivering stockings to Ridge Wood Elementary.

Q: How should we decorate the stockings?

A: The goal is to add a personal touch to the stockings. Feel free to do whatever inspires you. Puffy paint, stitching, hot glue embellishments - the sky is the limit!

Q: Can we include food in the stockings?

A: Northville Civic Concern typically avoids including food items with holiday gifts, with candy canes and holiday treats being the exception.

Virtual Room Parents (NEW!)

During this very unusual year, the PTA is looking for Virtual Room Parents to be a strong liaison between classrooms and families. Room Parents will only be virtual this year, as parents are not permitted into the school buildings at this time. Collaboration between Virtual Room Parents and our Wellness committee will help keep a positive morale within our school, supporting both staff and students.

Here is the Sign Up Genius for the Virtual Room Parents.

Students Need to Use Their Own Names in Zoom (NEW!)

Parents of virtual students, please remind your child to use his/her name when signing into Zoom meetings. We still have several students who are using screen names other than their own. This poses a safety risk for us, as we need to know who students are before we can let them into a Zoom. Please click here for instructions on how to change your display name in Zoom.

Scavenger Hunt Success!

The PTA-sponsored Halloween Scavenger Hunt was a huge success! Families from Amerman, Winchester, and Ridge Wood hid objects in their Halloween decor. Students travelled from house to house with their families to find the objects. I did it with my own kiddos and we had a blast! Thank you, PTA!
