The Rocket Review

June 7, 2020

Dear Ridge Wood Family,

It's hard to believe we're heading into the final week of the 19/20 school year. We were thrown a massive curve-ball back in mid-March, and we are. As a community, we have emerged from this stronger than ever. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to you and your children. Despite every challenge you faced, you rose to the occasion and made it to the other side. Congratulations to ALL of you for a successful end to a whirlwind school year.

Hats off to our fifth graders, whom we will be sending off with a virtual ceremony on Tuesday and a Clap-Out on Wednesday. We will miss the Ridge Wood Class of 2020!

If you haven't done so yet, please complete this NPS Re-entry Planning Survey sent by Superintendent Gallagher on Friday. This will help us as we continue to make plans for the fall. Your input is very valuable! Please stay tuned to more information from the District as the summer unfolds.

You all deserve a safe and happy summer. Rest up and we will see you (in some form or another) in the fall!

We Remain Ridge Wood Strong,

Beth Solensky

Art Pole in Sarah's Garden

Many of you are familiar with Sarah's Garden, which was built in honor of a Ridge Wood student named Sarah Girard. Sarah passed nine and a half years ago. The garden, which is located outside of Mrs. Balash's classroom (Sarah was in Mrs. Balash's class at the time), is carefully tended by Mrs. Balash and her students each year.

You will notice a beautiful new structure in Sarah's Garden as you pass by Ridge Wood on Six Mile. The structure, called an Art Pole, was generously donated by the Ridge Wood Dad's Club. Since this would have been the year Sarah graduated, Mrs. Balash had the wonderful idea to erect this structure to commemorate not only Sarah, but her entire graduating class, as well. In Mrs. Balash's words, "The pole is there to give them peace, honor their resilience, and spread positivity to Northville families." Thank you, Mrs. Balash and the Dad's Club, for this beautiful new Art Pole!

Due to the COVID-related delays at the post office, our yearbooks have not arrived yet. Depending on when they get here, we will either hand-deliver them or distribute them in the fall. (Fifth grader's yearbooks would be sent home with a sibling or to the middle school.) Please stay tuned for more information!

EduKit Orders

Ridge Wood Elementary School offers the EduKit program as a convenient option for busy families to order school supplies for the 2020/2021 year. EduKits include the supplies approved by our school.

The Northville Council of PTAs, in partnership with the middle and elementary schools, are very excited about our school supply kit fundraiser ~ providing a convenient way for families to purchase school supplies for the coming school year. The school supply lists have been developed by the teachers in each grade, at each school.

Please note that the supply lists are simply suggestions of helpful items and are strictly voluntary, as Northville Public Schools provide the necessary supplies and materials for your child’s successful school experience.

Your student's order will be delivered directly to Ridge Wood before the first day of school.

Extended ordering is available from June 13, 2020 - August 06, 2020 for an additional fee and will be delivered to your home shortly before school begins. ORDER BY JUNE 12, 2020 FOR BEST PRICING AND FREE SHIPPING.
