The simple joys...
On the Today Show this morning, they discussed adding something beautiful to the world. They shared an example of a singer from her home singing 'Hallelujah'. We are all given unique talents and gifts. What beauty can you add to our world today?
MANDATORY SCHOOL CLOSURES
March 13, 2020: School Safety and Health Update
Governor Tony Evers made this announcement today, Friday, March 13 at approximately 4:35pm.
“Today, I directed Wisconsin Department of Health Services to issue an agency order mandating the closure of all K-12 Wisconsin schools, public and private, as part of our efforts to respond to and contain the spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin.
Closing our schools is not a decision I made lightly, but keeping our kids, our educators, our families, and our communities safe is a top priority as we continue to work to respond to and prevent further spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin. Kids and families across Wisconsin often depend on our schools to access food and care. We are going to continue working to do everything we can to ensure kids and families have the resources and support they need while schools are closed.
The mandated closure will begin on Wednesday, March 18th, to give school districts ample time to make plans for kids, families, educators, and staff, but school districts may choose to close earlier than Wednesday.
Please continue to find the most accurate and up-to-date information on the status of COVID-19 in Wisconsin at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/disease/covid-19.htm”
All after school and extracurricular activities including BRAVE are cancelled.
Please visit the RASD website and Facebook page, as well as monitor your email for more information as it becomes available.
Thank you for your flexibility and patience with our teaching staff as we use this learning model.
I wish you and your extended family health,
Dr. Mary Whitrock
How does this affect Odyssey Academy of Virtual Learning?
Odyssey will resume our normal instruction on Monday, March 23rd after Spring Break. There will be little to no effect on our families and students, however, we will not be able to physically meet for any upcoming events. This will include: speech services, art classes, ACT Make-up and potentially more events in the future. Students WILL continue to be accountable for their attendance, participation and work completion.
Please see the below information provided to us by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction:
The order does not prevent a school from providing virtual instruction to pupils. See the attached K-12 FAQ from the Governor’s office.
Virtual Charter Schools may remain open and continue their regular online curricular instruction. Any physical attendance requirement would be prohibited under the DHS order.
Virtual Charter Schools -students will continue to be subject to attendance and/or failure-to-participate requirements, even if their resident district bricks-and-mortar schools are closed.

State Testing
The following communication was relayed through CESA 6
"Testing
It is increasingly clear that it will not be possible to complete testing this year due to the pandemic. The DPI will aggressively pursue a waiver request to the United States Department of Education (USDE) from this requirement and will work with the legislature and governor’s office around suspending the state test requirements this spring. In addition, we will continue discussions around the impact on report cards with all parties. We will keep you updated on this progress as we move forward."
We will continue to share out further information as it becomes available from the state.
CANCELLED-- ACT MAKE-UP Wisconsin Standardized State Testing

Open Enrollment for 2020-2021
Many questions have arisen regarding Open Enrollment from current Odyssey families and interested families. Please read through the following information carefully. Open Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year begins February 3rd. The application will be available starting February 3rd, the link is provided below.
Enrollment Process for 2020-2021
Current Resident Families: In July, information will be sent out to families on how to complete the online registration process. This is the process where you verify and make any updates to your contact information. Please know that you do not have to partake in open enrollment.
Current Open Enrolled Families: Please do not complete the open enrollment process again to our district. The best part about open enrollment is that you only have to complete it one year. If you do complete the open enrollment process again for Odyssey we will ask that you please log back in to DPI and remove your application to help prevent duplication. In July, you will get information on how to complete the online registration process. This is the process where you verify and make any updates to your contact information.
New Interested Open Enrolled Families: Please complete the open enrollment process between February 3 and April 30. Once the open enrollment window is complete we will contact you with the next steps.
We will continue to accept new students for THIS school year (2019-2020), that is done through the 'Alternate Open Enrollment' form. If there are any questions, please contact us.
