Unique Club at OQMS- PEEPS
PEEPs (Peers Educating Exceptional People) was created in 2015 to build friendships between students with disabilities and their peers. When PEEPs began, students spent time with their peers with disabilities during advisory. This program created friendships and acceptance throughout the school building. In 2017, PEEPs was so popular that it expanded into an after school club! The first year was a tremendous success and is returning for a second year!
PEEPs After School Club is a club to build friendships between students with disabilities and typically developing peers.
It has helped many students create new friendships. Does your child struggle to make friends? Sign up for PEEPs! Does your child outgoing and enjoy making new friends? Sign up for PEEPs!
Students will participate in various activities including sports, art, music, technology, service projects and culinary arts while fostering friendships and building social skills. Club members will also have the opportunity to attend school functions together throughout the school year! The registration fee for the entire school year is $75! Register on the website today!PEEPS Club will be held on Tuesday’s from 2:30-4:00
Starting September 18

At Old Quarry, each grade level has its own social worker. What do social workers do?
We help students with their social, emotional, and academic needs
We “loop” with the grade levels - meaning the social worker will rotate grades along with your child. This creates a smooth transition to each new grade level
We meet with the grade level team of teachers once a week for a ‘Student Support Team’ meeting. During these meetings, the teachers discuss any concerns they may have about their students and the team problem solves interventions
We are also currently putting together a Social Emotional Learning plan that is carried out twice a week by advisory teachers. Please stay tuned for more information about what your child is learning!
We have introduced ourselves and continue to interact with students daily so students know how and when to reach out to us if needed. Your child can ask a teacher to see us, stop by our rooms during passing periods, email us, or have parents contact us
Meet your OQ Social Workers:
Aleks Gavrilovic is the 7th-grade social worker. She is new to Old Quarry this year but has years of experience working with kindergarten - 8th-grade students. Ms. Gavrilovic is excited to get to know all of her students, watch them grow, and support them in achieving their goals.
