Cobra Strike
From the Desk of the Junior/Senior High School Principal
"After a full belly, all is poetry" Frank McCourt
Now that we all have a full belly and heart, let us dive into the last three weeks before semesters end. Construction is nearly complete in the gym so we will be moving middle school girls basketball back to the high school starting tomorrow. When you come in, the construction is done, not the painting project. We are still planning on revealing the finished product there on the 13th. However, come on out so you can see the work in progress towards the renovation. Mrs. Morris, along with Troy Proffit and his two sons (Kryndon and Kyson) have been working like no tomorrow on the painting project.
Aside from that, we have a First Friday event this week that we are looking forward to as well as a few topics to discuss regarding finals. So let's get to it.
Let's go make a difference.

Finals!!!!
Yes finals are upon us.
The fall finals will be held on December 19 and 20.
We will be utilizing an alternate schedule on these days.
Monday you will test on the odd hour classes (1,3,5,7)
Tuesday you will test on the even hour classes (2,4,6,8)
On these days, students will only have four class periods so the bell schedule will be slightly altered. Students will go to their 1st hour class on Monday as usual but Tuesday they will go to their 2nd hour class at 8:20.
8:20-9:50 will be 1st/2nd hour.
10:00-11:37 will be 3rd/4th
11:40-1:45 5th/6th
1:55-3:25 7th/8th
These extra long classes will allow you plenty of time to take care of your exam as well as time to study and prepare for the next tests/presentations. you will have long passing periods between finals hours to allow for bathroom breaks. We will be limiting time in the halls during finals to avoid disruptions.
Good luck on finals. I know you got this.
Finals opt outs
Remember you have the ability to opt out of up to two finals this semester. These opt outs can be used in any class that offers a final exam. Additionally, if there is a project with presentation, you can work it out with your teacher about what portion of the project can be opted out of.
Opt out 1: no office referrals during second quarter.
Opt out 2: less than 5 tardies total during second quarter.
I will be assessing who will be awarded opt outs the week prior to finals and hand out the opt out forms that Friday. your opt out form must be handed to your teacher before the start of the test on finals day in order to use it.
Those of you using an opt out can come to the library or the commons to take part in family games or watching a movie during the class period that you are opting out of.

Honor Flight
The Juniors and Seniors have been sent the application to be a Guardian. They have until Dec 10th to submit their responses in order to be considered to go on this upcoming trip.
Within the next few weeks, I will be updating our website with the new applications for veterans to sign up for the trip as well. Stay tuned on that.
We are also looking into our funds for the trip and are working on several ideas for the next semester. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. These trips are an amazing opportunity for our students and the Veterans they will get to serve.
