Shout-Outs for Fall Sports!

It is hard to believe that our fall sports have wrapped up their seasons. Our student athletes AND their coaches are impressive. Check out some of the highlights from our coaches:

  • The boys XC team won the Spain Park Twilight Race & the Oak Mountain Invitational; placed 2nd at the Hoover 2-Miler; and placed 3rd at the Jesse Owens Classic and Metro Championship.

  • The girls XC team won “Runners-Up" at the Metro South XC Championship on Thursday, upsetting Homewood for the 2nd place finish.

  • The 7th grade volleyball team had a great season full of ups and downs but persevered to become a solid team. They improved as individuals and grew as a team. By the end of the season, the 7th grade team was playing their best volleyball yet. We can't wait to see what they will do next year.

  • The 8th grade volleyball team finished 4th place in the metro tournament! The girls worked hard throughout the season to defeat Homewood, Liberty Park, and other metro schools. We can't wait to watch each of them continue on their volleyball journey!!

  • Our football teams had great seasons, too! The 8th grade team finished their season 6 - 2. The 7th grade team completed their season 7 - 1, and won the metro championship last week!

In addition to the work of our students, our coaches did an amazing job training our students to balance school and sports. They teach and model leadership, teamwork, and determination for our students. Two of our coaches were named by his/her colleagues as metro-coaches of the year: Jason Williams for cross country and Shannon Barger for volleyball. Being a Pirate is about being part of a family- our students, teachers, and coaches lead in such a way that others want to follow! Go Pirates!

Thanks, PTO! Just recently, our PTO granted thousands of dollars to support teacher grants. Grants included enhancing classroom libraries and furniture, new sound equipment, and more. We are grateful for your on-going efforts to enhance learning experiences for students at Pizitz!

Living History Day

The time-honored tradition of recognizing our Veterans continues. Help us plan for Living History Day in two ways:

  1. Hall of Heroes- A beautiful display of posters including photos and service information from the Veterans representing our Pizitz students and faculty. Students are asked to submit information here for their Veteran to be included in the Hall of Heroes. Deadline for submissions is October 21. All 2020 posters will be used again this year.
  2. Parade of Patriots- November 4, 2021 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am Students will welcome Veterans on campus through a sea of socially-distanced, flag-waving Pizitz Pirates as Veterans drive through, in the safety of their own vehicles.
