District Safety Updates
Pella Community Schools are taking steps to improve safety and security of our schools. Nearly all schools have practiced a lockdown drill already this year, and our next steps will be to reflect on the processed and work to improve them. To learn more about some of the terminology, please clink on this Safety Link.
District Visitor Protocol Updates
In order to strengthen safety measures, we will utilize the following visitor protocol across the Pella Community School District because we love our children!
- Visitors must check in at the main office.
- Visitors must be verified by the staff member they are here to see.
- If the office has not been informed about the visit, the staff member who is meeting with the guest will come to the office to escort them into the building.
- All visitors must wear a visitor badge, sticker, or lanyard while in the building.
Explicit Music
Please remind your students that we will not permit them to play "explicit" music on their Spotify account. When an "explicit" song comes on, it will denote that on their account next to the song. We know there can be quality songs with explicit ratings; however, we will take this approach to in order to be consistent.
Texting or Calling Home due to Illness
- Students should come to the office if they are not feeling well, and the office personnel or nurse will notify you if your child needs to come home due to illness. Please do not come unless you hear from the office.
- Students are allowed to call from the office on their personal phones if they ask and need to.
- Student phones are to be left in their lockers throughout the entire day.
8th Grade Party
Believe it or not, it is never too early to begin planning for this. Holly Kraber and Melissa Brown have already volunteered to lead the planning and preparation. Please be watchful of a planning meeting sometime toward the middle of the year. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to let them know you are willing to help out. This continues to be a huge success due to such supportive parents.
