Concrete Primary--September 14, 2015
This week and next, I will be administering the PALS (Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening) to all students. This is a very helpful assessment that will guide me in planning instruction for my students. I will need to meet with each child individually two times over the next two weeks. Mrs. Lorey will be guiding them in small group activities and rotating centers while I am screening. We will not be doing our instructional groups for these 2 weeks. The students did a great job with these! I look forward to returning to those the week of September 29.
Important Information
- Behavior reports come home on the first day of each week. However, if I have a need to contact you during the week, I will. We want to help the children stay on track as quickly as possible. Thanks so much for your support in helping your child do your best.
- Each week, Mrs. Lorey and I will choose a "Superhero of the Week". This student is selected for making good choices in the classroom and being respectful of his/her teachers and classmates. The first week, our student was Kyleigh, this week it was Roland! They've each received their certificates and an ice cream treat with their lunch from Mrs. Poole and Mrs. Lorey. I look forward to having all of our students work hard to be named Superhero of the Week!
- Remember that Scholastic Book orders are due tomorrow 9/14 if you choose to order for your child. You may also complete orders online by 9/14.
- My Big World is a Scholastic magazine for students. I'm very excited that we were able to purchase a subscription this year. Every week, we will go over the magazine in class and I'll send a link for you to enjoy the magazine online with your child at home.
- Please remember that we go to the library on Fridays. We have a special place in our classroom to return books. Your child may bring it on any day of the week, but it must be returned by Friday for them to check out a new book.
- Monday, September 28, is a Professional Development day for teachers and a student holiday. No school on this day!
