SV Week 32 Update

Testing Window Opens Tuesday

We had another fantastic week of learning and innovation at SV, our 3-8th graders are ready to tackle state testing on Tuesday as we have our first AASA writing test for all 3-8th grade students. On Thursday of next week, our 5th and 8th grade students will take the science test component of the test, and Friday is our makeup day for all grades writing and science.

Our kids will continue to shine, and there is nothing for them to "study", we just ask for your help. Please have your student arrive on time, a balanced breakfast to start the day, chromebooks fully charged and students stay for the duration of the school day during the testing window. Please do not schedule any appointments during this window so that our students get every opportunity to take their time and do their best on these assessments. As a reminder, we also have breakfast available for all students at no charge this year for all our students starting at 8:10 am.

On Tuesday, April 5, we encourage all students to bring a sack lunch to eat in the classroom if the writing test moves into the lunch period. This will allow students to eat lunch in class without having to go into the cafeteria, they will have as much time as needed to complete the test and don't want them to feel rushed. A lunch will still be available from the cafeteria if needed.

During our testing window, we will not be taking any deliveries to classrooms to protect testing conditions for all kids. Items dropped off at the office will remain in the office and we will not call into classrooms.

National Assistant Principal's Week! & PTSO Update

Next week, April 4th-8th is National Assistant Principal’s Week. It’s time to celebrate Mrs. LaBuwi and we could use your help in making her feel extra special! Any notes, cards, emails, gift cards, flowers, etc are welcome and greatly appreciated. I have included a list of her favorites if you need any help coming up with an idea. We have a few surprises lined up throughout the week to celebrate Mrs. LaBuwi.

**If you are able to send in a gift card in any amount, to any store or restaurant, it would be really helpful for one of our surprises. If this is something you’d like to do, please send in the gift card in an envelope with your child to your child’s classroom teacher. Please write PTSO on the front of the envelope and we’ll take it from there.

I know Mrs. LaBuwi will feel the love this next week. Thank you in advance for helping us celebrate her!

PBIS Rewards Donations

Do you have any gently used stuffed animals or plush you no longer need? We are currently in need of stuffed animals for our PBIS Rewards store. These items are a huge hit in our store, and kids are loving to spend their PBIS Reward money on these and many other items in our store. If you have any gently used toys or unused small denomination gift cards, we could put them to great use in our shop.

We are also currently in need of brown paper bags/lunch sacks to organized and deliver our PBIS prizes. If you would like to contribute, we would welcome any donations of these brown paper bags. You can drop off any prizes or rewards at our front office.

Middle School Sports

On Monday, softball travels to Union Park, and baseball hosts Union Park. Next Wednesday April 6, baseball hosts Terramar, and softball travels to Terramar. All games are at 4:30 pm. Good luck Vipers!

Universal Gifted Identification Testing Grade 2 Students

In order to ensure we are identifying and providing services for all of our students, your child’s school has agreed to provide a universal gifted identification testing for all of this year’s 2nd grade students. This means we will not just be testing students whose teachers or parents request it, it is going to be open to all 2nd graders who are not currently identified, or who have not yet tested this school year.

See the attached flyer for more information along with a permission slip for testing.
