April is School Library Media Month
Join in the Celebration!
School Libraries Transform Learning
The statement above is the theme for School Library Media Month 2016. How many times have you heard someone say their love of reading started with the library? I know it did for me. Where else can you travel around the world, have a daring adventure, solve the mystery of the century or imagine the latest invention? All the resources are at our students' fingertips in our school Media Center. I hope you join us in celebrating this great resource in our school where we let our imaginations soar.
Beverly Cleary Celebrates Her 100th Birthday!!
Author Beverly Cleary will celebrate her 100th birthday on April 12th! She began writing books for children over 60 years ago. Her books are beloved by children of all ages and well remembered as they become adults. We can credit Beverly with instilling the joy of reading in many of us today. Check out her interview from the Today show below.
April 12th - Beverly's Birthday is D.E.A.R. Day
In honor of Beverly's 100th birthday it would be fantastic if we could all take a few minutes on April 12th to Drop Everything And Read (D.E.A.R.) with our students. Make sure you take the time to read when your students are reading. Read anything - a book, a poem, an article - just read. How great for us to lead by example.
New Book Preview for Teachers - April 14th - After School
I am so excited for you all to see the new books that just arrived in the Media Center! Our book orders were long delayed but they are here and ready for you to see before the students see them. The teacher preview will happen on Thursday April 14th in the Media Center. Come in and browse, have a snack, and maybe win a prize or two.
