December is National Human Rights Month!
December recognizes National Human Rights Month. This month and every month to follow, everyone in the United States is encouraged to come together and stand up for equality, justice, and the dignity of all humans. December is a time to honor the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, an international document stating the fundamental rights and freedoms to which all human beings are entitled.
Check out both of these special times of recognition that are relevant to your work, your students, and their families.

How to Prioritize Self-Care During the Holidays
By Kevin Connors, M.S., MFT, and Kathryn Hamel, Ph.D., the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI)
The holiday season is typically seen as a time of joy and merriment; of family and friends gathering and celebrating together. However, many have begun to have honest conversations about the darker side of “the most wonderful time of year.”
For many with mental illness, or those who have family and loved ones who face mental health issues, these can be tremendously difficult times. Here are a few ways to create self-care activities to help carry us through the season.
Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy,
and restful Holiday Season!
The mission of the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network (PaTTAN) is to support the efforts and initiatives of the Bureau of Special Education, and to build the capacity of local educational agencies to serve students who receive special education services.
