This Week

This week we will be celebrating the 100th day of school. The 100th day of school falls on Thursday the 21st. The kiddos will be doing reading, writing and counting activities all around the number 100 all week. Your child is encouraged to dress up on that day like he/she is 100 years old. Also, we are planning to make a snack with 100 pieces. If you would like to donate a snack, such as mini marshmallows or fruit loops, your donation would be greatly appreciated.

If we have a snow day, the 100th day of school will be postponed to Friday, January 22nd.

Memory Words of the Week

To help our kiddos learn memory words we have added this section to the newsletter. Each week we will put two memory words for your kiddo to practice at home. The memory words featured in this section will also be the memory words we are practicing in class. We will also do our best to give you ideas in which you can practice the words at home. Please feel free to mark the memory word practice from this section on your child's Homework Menu. If your child is has mastered the memory words of the week feel free to pick a different word off of the BCSC memory word list. Click here to access the BCSC/ Wonders kindergarten word list, BCSC/Wonders word list.

Memory Words of the Week

Ideas for Practice:

  • Play memory word spotlight. Write memory words onto index cards. Place index cards around a room and turn off the lights. Send your kiddo into the dark room with a flashlight. Have them search with the words and shine the "spotlight" on to the words. Be sure to have your kiddo read each word as he/she discovers the word.
  • Put the memory words on your kiddos favorite snack. Each time they want to have the snack they need to read the memory words to "unlock" the snack.
