Are you wondering where your shirts and water bottles are?
Shirts and hoodies are expected to be distributed to students the week of September 26. Due to some major quality issues with the water bottles, our vendor has determined that refunding all water bottle purchases is the best course at this time. Separate communications have been sent to families who ordered water bottles. If you did not receive an email, but you ordered a water bottle, please contact Emma White at osptapres@gmail.com.
Reflections Program
Reflections has been a staple arts program in many schools for over 50 years. Through the efforts of Local PTAs, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story. The theme for this year's program is "Show Your Voice!". Interest forms are due by October 14th. If you are interested in learning more about Reflections or if your student would like to participate, please contact Dimple Vadgama at dimple.vadgama@gmail.com.
Help us make our yearbook great!! We'd love to see your photos from school events such as meet the teacher, first day of school, Generations night, etc. Submit your photos at this link:

Information About EXPO Referrals and Testing
Denton ISD has two scheduled referral/nomination periods; one in the fall and the other in the spring. All referral/nomination dates and times are determined each fall.
Nominations may come from faculty, parents, community members or self-nomination. Persons nominating a student must complete a general referral form and submit it to the school office or the campus EXPO specialist. This will begin the process of data collection from various sources regarding the child's ability and potential. After the referral is received at the campus, a permission to test form will be sent home for parents to sign and give permission to test referred student.
The identification and selection of students for participation in the program is determined by a three-step process:
1. Referral / Nomination
2. Assessment
3. Selection
Students may only be referred once during a 12 month period.
Transfer Gifted and Talented Students
A child who is new to the Denton ISD and was tested and placed in a state approved GT program in another city and then moves to the Denton ISD is eligible for transfer testing.
Ongoing throughout the year and deadlines placed for Fall and Spring testing
Kindergarten Testing
Kinder referrals must be completed by November 18, 2022
Testing begins December 5, 2022
Elementary Testing (Grades 1 - 5)
Fall Referral forms must be completed by October 7, 2022

Stephens Elementary
Opened in 2008, our school is named after Olive Stephens, who served the town of Shady Shores as mayor for nearly four decades. We believe that ensuring high levels of success for all students requires a collaborative effort between staff, parents, students, and community members. We are thankful for the continued support of all of our stakeholders as we "build a community of learners for life!"
