Mrs. Park's Fourth Grade
Remote Learning Update 8/31/20
Week 2--We Made It!
From completing Ready and Lexia assessments to learning how to upload Screencastify videos, we made it. Another full week of remote learning. Give yourselves a pat on the back and do a happy dance!
Student Work of the Week--How Do Scientists Know So Much?
Picking Up the Pace!
This week, your child will see daily assignments loaded in their Google Classroom. There will be ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies assignments. There may be more than one activity for each subject. Our remote learning experiences/grading is comparable to what the hybrid learners are doing "in person" at PCIS. I'm working closely with grade level teachers at the school. It will IMPORTANT that your child logs in daily to complete assignments.
Google Meets
We will have live Google Meet sessions for questions and answers that are subject centered. These will start the week of August 31.

Learning this Week
Fourth graders will begin the novel Because of Winn Dixie this week. In math, we will explore categorical, numerical, and changes over time data. In science, we will explore how the surface of the earth changes through Mystery Science lessons. In social studies, students will continue their NC Weekly lessons from Week 1
Lexia
You will see daily under ELA that your child has 20 minutes of Lexia work. This is a new online reading program LCS has adopted this year. All PCIS students will do 20 minutes on Lexia daily. I would set a timer to help your child know when his/her 20 minutes is up on the program. It is most effective when kept to about 20 minutes per day.
