Class Updates
Writing- In Ms. Hopkins class, we are wrapping up Unit 2 over doing research and informational writing. The students have created a feature article over a current world issue of their choice. They chose articles from online, databases, and the library in order to support their ideas, as well as give them new perspectives. These articles will be due next week, November 12th for Red Day and November 13th for White Day. Our next unit is Narrative Writing, where students will get to be more creative in their writing. I'm excited to see what they can come up with!
Math: Students are working on geometric transformations such as translations, reflections, dilations, and rotations.
Algebra: Students are working on writing and graphing linear equations and functions in slope-intercept form, standard form, and point-slope form.
Algebra 1A: Students are working on graphing and writing linear equations from tables, graphs, and verbal descriptions.
Science- In Science, we are continuing through our Chemical Reactions unit. We have our Topic 2&3 test (Synthetic Materials) Friday, November 8 (Red) and Monday, November 11 (White). Students have a Study Guide on paper that will help them prepare! All other resources are on Schoology which is the best place to find all the resources for our class.
Social Studies- we are studying the American Revolution. We will be discovering what events led up to the Revolution, key events and battles that occurred, and the Declaration of Independence. Students will be participating in hands-on experiences throughout this unit including an American Revolution Centers activity and another simulation (a student favorite)!
