Estuaries are homes for thousands of marine animals and their species. The habitat is perfect for aquatic organisms like the Blue Crab.

Organisms

Pamlico Sound is home to the Blue Crab, the Striped Bass, the Shad fish, Red Drum, and the Spot fish.

Rivers

The Neuse, Pamlico, and Trent rivers lead into the Pamlico Sound.

Threat

Pollution runoffs from impermeable surfaces are causing an acceleration of algae growth that remove the dissolved oxygen from the water killing animals like the Blue Crab.
