The Fight to Change
Free your child from the depression and the stress ODD puts on the family. Just prevent any possible risk factors such as over spoiling your child or not treating them with much respect. Yes, I know there are some things you can not help such as close family members with mental problems. Just try to keep your child safe from ODD as much as possible.
Anger
The anger in your child probably comes from the stress and frustration.
Trapped
Don't let your child feel trapped in their feelings.
Happy
Make your child as happy as possible without spoiling them or over doing it.
Coping with ODD
If you or your child has ODD just hang in there. Try therapy at first, then ask your psychiatrist if you or your child will need medications. Just try to find ways to calm yourself such as deep breaths or writing notes and ripping them up and throwing them away. Take time for yourself, get involved in sports and other activities to cool down. Be forgiving, start everyday with a clean slate, think of everyday as a new start.
