Help! My Child with a Disability Wants to Drop Out of School!

Dropping out is rarely the result of one quick or impulsive decision; it is usually the result of compounding pressures that lead students to gradually disengage from school and eventually drop out. Pressures are not always created in school, but outside influences affect disengagement from school.

Possible signs of dropping out:

• skipping school

• failing classes

• discipline problems

• being involved in illegal activities

• loss of interest

Check out the new resource my colleague created for parents that have concerns their child with a disability might drop out of school!

This resource pamphlet contains great resources and information to help you!

One in five children experiences a mental, emotional or behavioral problem. They’re not just “trying to get attention.” It could seriously affect their ability to learn and to be successful.

There is hope.

Join us on Saturday, September 28 to learn about warning signs, how to find help, how to work with your school, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit with community organizations and learn about great resources, participate in table conversations and hear from experts during breakout sessions.

In addition to this important information, this event includes:

  • Free registration; open to all community members
  • Free child care
  • A light breakfast

This event is made possible through the support of Clarity Child Guidance Center and USAA.
