Preparing For The Cold Weather Starts With Building Our Immunity
Our bodies have an amazing defense system specifically designed to guard against millions of bacteria, microbes, viruses, toxins and parasites all laying siege to invade us. It's our immune system.
With cold weather months fast approaching, now more than ever we need to start paying attention to building our immunity and staying healthy so we can enjoy the Holidays with our families and loved ones. Here are a few tips to give your immune system a boost.
Reduce Your Stress. Studies show a steady stream of stress can weaken your immune system. Take time to relax and do things you enjoy.
Take Your Vitamins. A daily multivitamin will help ensure your body is getting all of the building blocks for a healthy immune system.
Eat Your Antioxidants. Eating plenty of fruits and veggies can aid in protecting your cells from free radicals and molecules that can damage cells.
Use Essential Oils. doTERRA Essential Oils can be used topically or internally as directed to boost your body's own natural defenses. Used aromatically, essential oils can also reduce stress which is a key contributor to weakening the immune system.
Avoid Processed Foods. Processed foods such as fast foods, snack foods, candy and soda don't provide much in the way of vitamins, fiber or other nutrients. They often contain high levels of sugar and other additives and chemicals that compromise our gut flora and that can wreak havoc on our immune systems.
Keep Your Body Moving. Moderate exercise a few times per week can help reduce stress and lower your risk to other diseases like osteoporosis.
Get a Good Night's Sleep. Without enough sleep our immune system may not posses the resources it needs to fight off illness.
Wash Your Hands. An easy way to help our immune systems to fight off illness is to wash our hands regularly with soap and water for 20 seconds.

doTERRA Pumpkin Pie
Cook Time: 1 Hour, 15 Minutes
- 1 (15 oz) canned pumpkin
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- ¼ C brown sugar
- ¼ C honey
- 2 eggs
- ½ tsp sea salt
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- 4 drops clove essential oil
- 2 drops ginger essential oil
- 2 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
- 1- 9 inch pie crust
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Whisk all ingredients until smooth.
- Pour into pie crust.
- Bake 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake additional 60 minutes.
- Pie is done when knife inserted 1 inch from the edge of crust comes out clean.
- If crust is getting to browned carefully cover with a foil tent 45 minutes into baking time.
