6th Grade News
Central Middle School
From Our Principal...
Recently our 6th grade students set up their Infinite Campus student portal accounts. As they prepare for 7th grade, it's important for them to begin taking more and more ownership of their learning. Having access to the portal allows students to check their grades and attendance just as you do! Please remind your child that teachers are only required to update their grade books once a week. Grading takes time and effort, but teachers work as quickly as possible to give students feedback quickly. As we wrap up this third nine-weeks, please also remind your student that grades in 6th grade are officially recorded each semester. It's important that work be completed and turned in on time, but the final grade will not be reflected on a report card until the end of the second semester. Thank you for your help in this matter!

English and Literacy
English classes we are researching disasters-natural or man-made. We are then constructing a four paragraph compare/contrast essay. Students have been given a rubric. It will be due before spring break, so they will have homework this week.
Literacy students are working on finishing their Mystery Novel and beginning their projects. All students should be well into the reading of their book by now. Please check with your student to see how they are progressing. Students can find the project descriptions and requirements on the literacy slide on their Google Drive.
Math and Pre Algebra
In Pre Algebra we just took our Pythagorean Theorem Exam. We will do a mini unit on Circles next week!
Science and Social Studies
In 6th-grade social studies we continue learning about Mexico. Last week we started our Mexico Maps, and those need to be turned in as soon as possible. We will have a physical map quiz on Wednesday, March 14. I will send a study guide to the students soon.
In 6th-grade science we will be finishing up cells and defining living things. We will have a test over Ch. 6 the human body on Tuesday, March 13. I will send a study guide to the students soon.
