News from Ms. Tornopsky
February 2022 Edition
Dear Franklin Families,
As we move into February, we begin to prepare for next school year, in the sense that parents need to complete their Intent to Return which can be found on the parent portal of PowerSchool. This is the first step in Franklin Academy preparing for the lottery in March. We open seats based on this ITR process. Please complete yours as soon as you can.
This morning I had the privilege of working cones in carline. I really enjoyed saying hello to everyone and I may do it more often. It was an eye opening experience. I would like to point out a few things to help parents navigate better and ensure a smooth and safe morning drop off.
- When you choose a lane (1, 2, or 3) please stay in that lane.
- Parents should not be on their cell phones in car line.
- We will count 10-12 cars at a time per lane.
- If you come prior to 7:15, you would be off campus within 15 minutes.
- If you come through the arch after 7:25, the line gets progressively longer.
Our goal is to drop off our students efficiently and safely. Please help us to continue to do so.
Ms. Rena Roseff-Tornopsky
Safety - Threats, Not a Joke
Passing along an article, great piece to review as a family! These 'jokes' aren't taken lightly and have to be reported/investigated.
***13 year old former Renaissance Charter student makes online threat and now she’s facing 2nd degree felony charges.
Student COVID Policy
Please read the updated COVID student policy on our website, which was updated 1/2/2022:
In addition, when a student is quarantining or home with COVID all classwork should be posted to the teachers Google Classroom. This work can be accessed by all students. As long as a student is able to, health wise, they should be completing their work and submitting it to the teacher. While we are not permitted to do virtual teaching at this time, a student can request the teacher have a Google Meet, when the teacher is available, to help the student with any questions they may have.
Please contact the teacher with any questions regarding the posting of work, or available times. All students should have already joined the Google Classrooms for their teachers, if not, again please speak with the teacher.
If your student tests positive for COVID-19 or was exposed to someone who tested positive, please fill out this form as soon as possible: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeszjAjkrahnu7wL6obAnuaQRaOHO2icBFx3iSQ0hOTT5JUJw/viewform
If you have not opted out of your student wearing a mask, please be sure to send them in with it. Students are asking for masks on a daily basis and it is challenging to sustain the supply at this rate.
Our students are getting a great deal of help through our tutors and our Academic Olympics. If your child is registered for this, please make sure they are attending all the sessions.

School Uniforms & Reminders
Franklin's uniform dress code is being fully enforced across all grade levels.
Students are required to wear a polo shirt with the school logo and the required Franklin bottoms. Non-Franklin sweatshirts, sweaters, and/or jackets are NOT permitted. In the event that the temperature outside is 50 degrees or below, students may wear a non-Franklin jacket. In addition, plain black or brown dress-style belts MUST be worn by students in grades 2-8, and shirts are required to be tucked into skirts/skorts, shorts, and pants.
Uniform infractions will be given to any student who is not following the above uniform requirements.
Please remind your student that gum is not allowed and cell phones must be turned off and kept in his/her backpack until he/she is picked up from school.
If you missed the Jean's Pass order, you can still purchase a jeans pass individually. For January the Jeans day's are 2/11 and 2/25.
This is a school fundraiser and the money raised will all go towards the students and special events. You may bring a check or money order on the jeans day. The form is no longer available.
