Fulton Science Academy
ACCREDITED AND STEM CERTIFIED COLLEGE PREP GIFTED SCHOOL
Week of March 29, 2020
Principal's Corner
Dear FSA Community,
We hope that everyone is continuing to do well and is staying healthy.
I want to begin by thanking all of our FSA parents who are a part of the medical and essential fields of employment. You are fighting in a battle for all of us and we are forever grateful for your bravery and commitment in making this world a better place. We are forever in your debt.
As you know, last week Governor Kemp announced the closure of all Georgia schools until April 24. This will mean that for now, we will continue Cyber School until then. Our Spring Break will still be held between April 6-10. As always, as we hear from the Governor's office, Federal Government, WHO, and CDC, we will be able to quickly inform you about the status of continuing Cyber School.
During this time, our goal is to provide you a quality and engaging Cyber School experience. While this applies to our students, we also would like to keep our parents engaged with all of us because we don't miss just the students, we miss our families! In an effort to do this, we are excited to announce two (2) virtual opportunities coming up for our amazing parents!
- We're adjusting our usual Mother's Night Out series to be Mom's Night IN this month! We know your students have been working hard during our cyber school days... but we also know our MOMS have been working hard too! Join us on Thursday, April 2nd at 4:30pm for a Yoga Session led by our very own 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. McNeill. Mrs. McNeill is also a certified yoga instructor! Please refer to the email that will be sent next week for Zoom link access.
- Dr. Karen Rowland, PhD will be sharing a virtual presentation for FSA families on April 15th about how to support your child through this pandemic. Dr. Karen Rowland, PhD is an expert in school counselor preparation and counselor education, with many years of experience in the field. She has numerous publications and presents at counseling conferences and workshops around the world. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and currently works at Mercer University. Please refer to the email that will be sent for Zoom link access.
Keep an eye out for more details on this event coming soon!
Lastly, we will be laying out our Newsletter a little differently for the foreseeable future so that we can highlight Elementary, Middle, and High in a more organized fashion. This will also allow our viewers to more easily navigate to their desired section of the newsletter. Various stories and information will accompany each section.
This Issue Will Be Laid Out in the Following Order:
- Quote of the Week
- Mustang News From the Past Week
- Introducing our New Way to Request Records
- Elementary News (PK - 5th)
- Middle School News (6th - 8th)
- High School News (9th - 12th)
- Ways You Can Help During This Time
- Summer Camps (these may change due to current circumstances. We will be sure to keep our families updated)
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Sincerely,
Kenan Sener
Principal

Pre-k teacher Ms. Kanov spreads a little sunshine
With the rainy weather & uncertain times our very own Pre-K teacher decided she needed to spread a little sunshine ☀️
This evening after cyber learning ended, Ms. Kanov made a surprise visit to all her Pre-K students... She stopped by and waved hi at them from a distance. We know they are missing seeing their teacher and classmates each day. We miss ALL our FSA students!
We hope you find a little sunshine of your own today ❤️

CYBER WEEK CHALLENGE ReCap Week 1: Communication
Cyber Challenge Week 1:Communication.
Cyber Challenge Week 2: Cyber Tools.
Cyber Challenge Week 3 (March 30 - April 3): Self Care.
Each week, the challenge was shared on Monday, reflect the weekly theme, and required students to send a picture related to the challenge to their respective counselor. #FSACyberChallenge
Addison G. (6th Grade)
The picture that I shared is a drawing with different colors around a circle with love in the middle. I am using this to communicate because the colors around it are the difficulties and hard things that we are going through such as the Coronavirus in the world around us. The word love in the middle represents share the love that you have while you have time and do not look at everything in a bad way.
I communicate through language and poetry!
