Parents & family are welcome to come.
FIESTA HOCO WEEK 2022!!
A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! Fall is now upon us. I hope you all are as ready for cooler temperatures as I am. Many exciting things both in and out of the classroom are gearing up. The students continue to work hard. Some classes have fieldtrips scheduled. Teachers are putting their UIL teams together to get ready for contest in November. Great things continue to happen at Burleson Elementary!
I would like to give a shout out to the PTO for decorating the foyer and setting up a Fiesta theme photo booth for Homecoming Week. The students and teachers have enjoyed it! Our PTO is awesome and does so much for our school. They have begun their cookie dough fundraiser, so they would appreciate the support.
Remember you can find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on the in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

This week we finished working on identifying the author's purpose and craft reading different types of non-fiction texts. Next week we will be reviewing and learning about text structures within each genre of nonfiction pieces.
In phonics, we have been working on the vowel rule of a vowel followed by a consonant and silent e is long. Students have been practicing how to correctly code words using symbols that help them spell and discover spelling rules .
In grammar, we are continuing to practice how to correct sentences. We are still focusing on how to correctly restate the question while responding to our written open ended questions.

4th & 5th Grade Math
-In 4th grade Math, we are still multiplying and slowly working up to multiplying 2-digit by 2-digit math problems.
-In 5th grade, we wrapped up Order of Operations and started Financial Literacy. This chapter is always an interesting chapter because it helps 5th graders have a better understanding of what are the different taxes, what it is to pay with credit cards and debit cards, and overspending.
-We need for the 4th graders and 5th graders to practice multiplication math facts every night for about 5 to 10 minutes. The work is becoming more challenging, and the students need to know their math facts to have a smoother learning experience.
-We need all students to be at school every day if possible because we do not want them to miss out on any new math concepts or having to do the make-up work.
Thank you for your support,
Stacy Gamez
5TH GRADE
5th Grade ELAR & Social Studies:
In ELAR, we are continuing our conversation and expanding our knowledge of author's purpose. We are looking at the different types of reasons authors write. The students are working very hard at this. Next week, we are going to dive into learning the difference between author's purpose and their craft. We will be starting a novel study and taking a look at figurative language and the why behind its uses. We are continuing our work on comprehension of reading passages which we do everyday in preparation for the STAAR test at the end of the year. Please continue to encourage your child to read every night for at least 20 minutes and to get their work done!
In Social Studies, we are halfway through all of the states & capitals! This week, we are starting to learn about all of the southern states and their capitals. Like always, we have our capitals & states quiz every Thursday. These are cumulative, so please make sure your child is studying all the states & capitals we've learned each week. We are also reading about the first Americans and will soon start discussing European expansion and the beginning of the 13 colonies.
We have our Farm Tour next Friday, October 7th! Please be sure your child is on time on this day. We will be leaving school around 8:30am.
Reminders:
- No Spelling Test this week! Woohoo! The next test will be October 13th!
- States & Capitals test every Thursday! Please study!!
- Please be sure your child is getting all work done & turned in.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me!
Thank you,
Mrs. Rasco
Gracias,
