Gator Bites for the Week of January 8, 2018

What to expect of Gator Bites

We will use this digital platform this year to communicate current and upcoming events and information for all stakeholders interested in River Bluff High School. We will post and send out each week to communicate with you. Go Gators!

River Bluff's Mission (Purpose)

Support students and teachers and all whom they influence collectively in their pursuit of excellence within a collaborative learning culture engaged in graduating citizen scholars committed to“building a better world”.

River Bluff's Vision (Direction)

To create a community of learners where passionate educators and students are collectively challenged within a flexible environment to see personal achievement thrive, through character, leadership and growth mindset while contributing to both a local and global society.

Gators of the Week - Work hard. Get smart. Do good.

Gators of the Week: Men's and Women's Basketball Teams win Holiday Tournaments

Work hard. Over the holiday break, both our men's and women's varsity basketball teams won their respective tournaments. The men's team was in competition in Rock Hill at Northwestern High School and the women's team was in competition at home. With five region games left, both are competing for a chance to enter the 5A State Playoffs.

Gators of the Week: Center for Law and Global Policy Students Take Walking Tour of Congaree Swamp

Get smart: Coach Burgess took most of the Center for Law and Global Policy Development students on an interpretive walk through the Congaree Swamp over the holiday break. This walk through the Battlefield allowed for learning on the ground for members of the AP US History classes.

Gators of the Week: RBHS Leadership Team Honors Teachers this Holiday Season

Do good. Members of the RBHS Leadership Team honored teachers this season with a bag of local pecans. Holiday wear with a tropical theme was the dress code for the day. At River Bluff our teachers are the most valuable resource.

Themed Nights for Varsity Basketball Games

Again we are excited to extend free admission to students dressed in themed attire for the remaining home region basketball games.

Below are the nights and the themes. Women's games begin at 6:00 PM and Men's follow at 7:30 PM.

Great job vs. Lexington High before break with school spirit and themed attire. The crowd made the difference.

The home student section is directly under the goal near the glass entrance to the gym. We encourage all students to sit there as the visiting team's student section is across the gym to the left.

Signing Out Procedures

A reminder to parents regarding signing students out during the school day. Someone from the student's sign out sheet must come in and show ID to dismiss a child. We do not accept phone calls or emails for dismissal. You can come in on Monday to sign your child out during the week but only up until Friday of the same week. Also, if you are dismissing your child during ILT, then it is helpful to have made arrangements with the student ahead of time. We appreciate your help to assist in making this process efficient.

Counseling and Advisement Assignments for Students

Counseling and Advisement Team

The Counseling & Advisement team is working towards a more intentionally focused program to provide students with the best support. Rather than counselors having students in all grade levels (9-12), we are realigning to be able to more appropriately serve students’ transitional needs at the different levels. This realignment will also more closely mirror our CREW design allowing students to stay with their school counselor their 9th and 10th grade years and then have another counselor their 11th and 12th grade years.
